Here’s what you need to know about a handy new mobile app that lets you consult a Singapore-licensed doctor on demand, no matter the hour.
We’ve all been there – so congested in the middle of the night and wishing we had seen a doctor sooner or, at 11pm, willing it to be morning so that we can seek help for a painful bladder infection. Which is why we’re super excited about the launch of Doctor World, a digital platform that allows patients to connect with healthcare providers at any time from anywhere in Singapore, making medical treatment in Singapore more convenient and accessible than ever before. Here’s why you’ll want to download the free mobile app ASAP.
Tele-consult a doctor 24/7 on a range of health conditions
As a 24-hour service, Doctor World, which partners with established providers like Raffles Medical Group, allows you to consult a Singapore-registered GP via live video call for non-emergency illnesses. No matter the hour, you can be connected to a doctor who will evaluate your condition and make a diagnosis based on your symptoms, presenting complaints and medical history.
Conditions that are suitable for teleconsultation include coughs and colds, sore throat, constipation and diarrhoea, skin irritation and rashes, acne, headaches and migraines, urinary tract infections, menstrual issues, gastric problems, conjunctivitis without visual disturbances, and well-controlled chronic illnesses that have already been routinely followed up.
Being able to talk to a doctor from the comfort of home is certainly opportune when you can’t muster the strength to get out of bed – and convenient when it’s difficult to drag two kids with you to a clinic for the phlegm situation you’re experiencing. Teleconsulting will not only save you the hassle, but also time travelling to and from the clinic, where you’ll likely have to wait to see the doctor. So, really, there’s no excuse for even the busiest of bodies to not get the healthcare they need.
It’s surprisingly affordable, too. From the hours of 7am to 11.59pm, a 15-minute video-consultation costs $18, and from 12am to 6.59am, the rate is $38. As your debit/credit card information is stored within the app, the whole experience is conveniently cashless, making things extra easy peasy.
Medications delivered to your door within two hours – anytime of day or night
After the doctor has prescribed your medication, it will be delivered to your doorstep within two hours of the consultation (yes, even if it’s 2am!). The best part? While you’ll need to pay for the medications themselves, the delivery comes at no additional cost – it’s included in the consultation fee.
Need an MC (medical certificate) too? No problem. If the doctor thinks you need some sick leave, the letter will be sent over electronically. Need a paperless referral letter sent over? That can also be arranged.
Access to your health information all in one place
It’s always helpful to have your health data stored in one place, which is why Doctor World keeps track of your consultation reports, diagnoses and medications, and makes it all easily accessible for reference (handy when you can’t remember what the doc had said while that migraine was messing with your ability to function…). This means you can simply focus on getting better rather than remembering all those details.
The integrated app also allows you to keep track of any medical appointments you make, securely update your health records as needed, and shop for healthcare products like supplements and more. There’s also a selection of 24/7 home care services including home nursing care and non-emergency ambulance services, plus the option to request doctor house calls.
Equally handy is the dedicated travel health section within the app that allows you to search for recommended vaccinations per country. Travel advisories and updates are also updated regularly, and there are a variety of other helpful health-related articles, too.
Doctor World is available for download at the Apple App Store and Google Play. Find out more at doctorworld.co.
