Yes, you read that right! One of the more interesting arrivals in the world of collagen boosting injectables is the ECM skin booster. ECM stands for extracellular matrix, the structural network surrounding your skin cells that supports firmness, elasticity and tissue healing. And unlike traditional skin boosters that focus on hydration, this treatment uses real human collagen with the goal to rebuild your ECM from within. We sit down with DR HOE YING MIN, Medical Director at Bay Aesthetics Clinic and Medispa, to find out everything to know about these skin boosters in Singapore – and give it a go ourselves!
ECM skin booster in Singapore
According to Dr Hoe, our skin’s extracellular matrix contains collagen, proteins and molecules that help maintain firmness, elasticity, hydration and tissue healing. As we age, it becomes weaker and more fragmented, leading to concerns like thinner skin, roughness, wrinkles and sagging. ECM skin boosters target the cause of these symptoms by replenishing the structural network itself.
“The ECM skin booster contains human acellular dermal matrix,” explains Dr Hoe. “It’s designed to sustain and support the skin’s natural extracellular matrix by delivering human collagen ECM ingredients into the skin through precise microinjections, much like an injected skin graft used to improve skin quality and regeneration.”
A bit baffled? You’re not alone. “Most patients are surprised when we first recommend it!” But as she points out, donated human tissue has been used safely in medicine for decades, from kidney to heart and cornea transplants. These ECM skin boosters in Singapore are developed by a Korean biotechnology company using donor tissue sourced from US FDA-accredited tissue banks and purified through patented technology to remove cells, pathogens and antigens while preserving native extracellular matrix. “This produces a safe, biocompatible acellular dermal matrix, maintains a 3D collagen and elastin scaffold for regeneration and reduces immune rejection and infection risk.”
How does it work?
The treatment works in two phases. Firstly, its ECM components help attract moisture and provide a quick onset of hydration and glow. The second phase then involves tissue remodelling and cellular proliferation. “The ECM components act as a support structure and scaffold for skin fibroblasts,” explains Dr Hoe. “Skin remodelling and cellular proliferation occur, with the release of growth factors allowing new blood vessels to form and new ECM components to be produced.”
ECM skin booster for crepey skin, enlarged pores and more
The treatment addresses a wide range of concerns, including dull or dehydrated skin, fine lines, enlarged pores, rough texture, mild laxity, acne scars and crepey skin. Dr Hoe uses it across the face including the cheeks, under-eye area, forehead, jawline and around the mouth, as well as on the neck for loose skin and neck lines, and even on acne, surgical and traumatic scars.
What to expect
At Bay Aesthetics Clinic and Medispa, Dr Hoe delivers the treatment using an injector gun for more consistent treatment depth, faster treatment time and less discomfort. Manual injection is also available. A numbing cream is applied beforehand, and most patients describe the experience as comfortable. Sessions take around 20 to 30 minutes.
Most patients notice a smoother, more hydrated complexion within one to two weeks, with improvements in radiance and skin texture over one to two months. Dr Hoe recommends three to four treatments spaced one month apart, followed by maintenance every four to six months.
How much does it cost?
A first-time treatment is $988. A package of four treatments is available at $1,100 per session. You can also add on injector gun delivery for $68 per session or pair your treatment with a 2ml hyaluronic acid skin booster at an additional $388.

I was very keen to try out this new skin booster treatment that’s been popping up on my feed lately from Korea. This is not a filler, but more aligned to procedures like wild salmon DNA injectables. It’s different because it’s targeted at deeper structural skin scaffolding by rebuilding collagen, while still offering skin smoothing, pore refinement and reducing fine lines. What blew my mind is that this collagen biostimulator is actually made of donor cadaver human skin tissue! I’d personally much prefer to inject human tissue than salmon sperm!
Bay Aesthetics Clinic and Medispa is a lovely, clean, centrally located space which immediately set me at ease. The procedure itself is straightforward, with minimal pain and no downtime. A numbing cream was applied to my face and left to settle for 20 minutes before the doctor carefully performed around 20 injections all over my face. There were small red spots for around half an hour which quickly subsided. Some people experience small bumps at the one-to-two-week mark but this did not eventuate for me.
Honestly, a couple of weeks later my face is feeling rejuvenated and hydrated with noticeably more elasticity. A friend commented on how fresh my face looked the other day without knowing I’d been in for a procedure. So that’s always a good indicator in my books. Results should improve continuously over a one-to-two-month period, so I’m interested to see how it progresses with time. Tried-and-tested and I recommend it!
