Thinking about a little nip and tuck to feel like your old self again? The mummy makeover has become popular in recent years with its customisable set of procedures – ranging from breast augmentation to tummy tuck. Dr Lee Hanjing of Argent Plastic Surgery in Singapore has performed plenty of mummy makeovers. She walks us through three of the most sought-after procedures and what to expect!

#1 Breast augmentation or lift
Pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave breasts sagging, deflated or asymmetrical. According to Dr Lee, breast augmentation, commonly known as a boob job, is one of the most popular mummy makeover procedures. You can opt for breast implants (such as silicone implants) or fat grafting (using your own fat cells from another part of your body to increase breast volume). Meanwhile, a breast lift (or mastopexy) is designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts in a more natural way. For women who want both volume and a lift, mastopexy can be combined with breast augmentation.
Recovery: 1 to 2 weeks.
#2 Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
For mums with loose tummy skin, a stubborn post-baby pouch or divarication of recti and umbilical hernia, Dr Lee recommends an abdominoplasty (commonly called a tummy tuck). Beyond flattening and firming the tummy, a key benefit of abdominoplasty is that it can tighten the underlying abdominal muscles and strengthen the core. Stretch marks on the lower abdomen? They can also be removed during the procedure, leaving a smoother, tighter appearance. For extra contouring, liposuction can be done at the same time.
Recovery: 2 to 4 weeks, with a well-hidden scar strategically placed at the lowest portion of the abdomen, easily concealed even in a bikini.
#3 Vaginoplasty
According to Dr Lee, vaginal childbirth can stretch and weaken vaginal muscles, making it difficult to regain pre-birth tightness. In turn, this can lead to vaginal dryness, discomfort during sex or a loss of confidence – all of which can affect emotional wellbeing and intimacy. Vaginoplasty is a reconstructive or cosmetic surgical procedure that tightens and reshapes the vaginal canal and surrounding areas, often addressing concerns such as weakened vaginal muscles due to childbirth, ageing or trauma. It can also restore the natural function of the vagina or improve its appearance. This is often done together with labiaplasty.
Recovery: 2 weeks.
From breast augmentation to tummy tuck – can you do them all at once?
The answer is yes – as long as your MOH-accredited, board-certified plastic surgeon deems it safe. Dr Lee says combination procedures are common. “Many women opt for multiple treatments in one session. It minimises downtime, reduces overall recovery time or time taken off work, and can even lead to some cost savings.”
That said, Dr Lee recommends waiting at least one year after childbirth before considering any type of plastic surgery including breast augmentation and a tummy tuck. This allows the body to fully recover and stabilise, ensuring the best results.
