We review a lash salon in Holland Village

9th February 2021 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

After four years in Kampong Bahru, local eyelash extensions studio The Lash Company has shifted to a bigger and brighter space in Holland Village! We visited the new salon to review their eyelash extensions service.

Review 1: Anthia Chng

“I’ve tried lash extensions now and then, mostly for special occasions like weddings, or right before I travel. I just love how convenient it is as I get to skip the mascara and walk out the door feeling dolled up.

While I’ve visited my fair share of lash salons, I’ve always found myself returning to The Lash Company for the combination of skilled lash artists and amazing service. So I was thrilled to check out the brand’s newest outlet at Holland Village, just a stone’s throw from the MRT station. The space is bright, clean and roomy, with high ceilings and lots of natural light streaming in. Every corner is a photo-worthy spot!

I opted for the Full Classic service, whereby the therapist attaches one single lash to each natural lash. This process is more tedious compared to cluster lash extensions, but the results are worth it. The length and curl of the lashes can be customised to your preference, whether you prefer a natural or dramatic look. I decided to go for something more natural that’s closer to my original lash length and curl.

My lash artist was gentle and meticulous in each step. I fell asleep during the process – it was that comfortable! I love how my new lashes look; they feel so lightweight that sometimes I forget I have them on.

It’s been three weeks and they’re still holding up well. Some of the lashes have dropped off, so the effect is more natural than before, which I’m actually a fan of. There’s still a visible lift and eyeliner effect, so I’m happy about that!”

Review 2: Danielle Rossetti

“I’ve tried eyebrow microblading, but have always avoided doing lash extensions for a few reasons: the results only last six to eight weeks, they could potentially be damaging my own lashes if the process isn’t done properly, and I hate people fiddling around my eyes! But now that we’re wearing masks and there’s an added focus on the eyes, I thought I would give it a go.

The Lash Company has been around for years, so I knew their lash artists would be gentle and not use any damaging glue or other harmful chemicals. Their new location at Holland Village is open and airy, with a bright mural on the wall and a relaxing vibe. My therapist took some “before” pictures with proper lighting so I could see the difference, then lay me down and got to work on the Full Classic extensions ($108).

While it felt a little odd having the tape applied to my lid, it was never uncomfortable. My eyes were closed the whole hour, and it turned out to be very relaxing. There was minimal activity under my upper lash line while each individual lash was glued on, so I never felt like something was going to get stuck in my eye. My lash artist also advised that although some lashes will gradually drop off over the coming weeks, it would not be any more than what normally falls off. She also assured me that the method they use for applying the extensions definitely does no harm to the lash growth underneath.

The difference is truly amazing – the lashes curl up and out and look very lush. There’s even an added eyeliner effect! After four weeks, they still look as good as the day I had them done. Sometimes when I wake up I need to brush them to separate them a little, but otherwise the only time I think about them is when I look in a mirror, or when people peer at me trying to work out what’s different. I’ve received many compliments about how great they look. I am a convert!”
