It’s rare that your mouth starts watering while reading a restaurant’s menu, but the one at Pontini managed to make mine do just that. Because the menu was so inviting, varied and interesting, I chose two appetisers. The pan-roasted foie gras with porcini mushrooms was breathtaking. I couldn’t talk while eating it, only moan in pleasure. The blue fin tuna belly carpaccio was a delightful blend of flavours and so light I was still able to enjoy the perfectly cooked beef tenderloin as a main.
After all this, the desserts still managed to supersede everything that had come before. The tiramisu is the real thing, very hard to find in Singapore (and I have tried very hard) and words cannot describe the crème brulee. The exceptional cuisine more than makes up for the rather plain décor. I believe that with a better ambience, Pontini could knock the socks off the top restaurants in town.
