Holland Village food & shops you’ll love!

22nd April 2022 by Rebecca Bisset 5 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/restaurants-in-holland-village-food-fashion-and-home-decor/

Holland Village food, fashion, home décor, bars, jewellery, beauty … there are all sorts of shops in Holland Village Shopping Centre and the area around it. “Holland V”, as many know it, was a hip place even back in the 1960s! It lost a bit of character during the building of the MRT, but it’s back on track today. (‘Scuse the pun!) For restaurants in Holland Village, there are plenty of options, including an old favourite we think you’ll love!

Holland Village Shops – Home Décor, Fashion & Beauty

The shops at Holland Village have always been great for gifts and home décor, hair and beauty salons as well as for picking up some good fashion deals.

Home décor, rugs and more

The Cinnamon Room is an award-winning home décor and lifestyle brand offering a range of artisan-crafted rugs, art and homewares. The store’s rugs range from gorgeous laser-etched and metallic cow hides, to quality cotton dhurrie rugs, whimsical jute rugs and weather-proof outdoor rugs. All will serve to effortlessly give your home décor an instant lift!

Both the carefully curated Holland Village showroom and the online shop also have an eclectic selection of accessories; it’s one of the best places for finding gifts in Singapore. The Cinnamon Room’s clients love the store’s style, generous advice and personalised customer experience. To take advantage of all that is on offer, pop into the store before the end of June this year as owner, Visha Nelson, is moving back to the UK and this gem of a home decor store will be closing its doors to open in new pastures abroad.

Handcrafted gifts at Holland Village

If you’re looking for gifting options that are handcrafted and rich in design, visit Suterwala’s at Holland Village. This local hidden gem carries designer products from around the world; it’s a carefully curated selection of niche items all aimed at enhancing lifestyle.

The signature collections include tableware rich in graphics, textures and colours from renowned designers. Also, to complement your table setting and spruce up your dining experience, you’ll find a wide variety of napkins, trays, table runners, placemats and handmade vases.

JM Chuah is a regular customer at Suterwala’s: “The shop owner is friendly and enthusiastic about sharing the stories behind the various curated collections on display at her shop. There are some exquisite and interesting ceramics and pieces of porcelainware; and I also really like the stoneware collection – it’s minimalist and timeless. I love the emerald green walls in the shop, too, as it feels so calming to browse the pieces here. Get their curated collections as gifts for friends and family!”

Holland V’s famous framer!

Framing Angie is the heart and soul of the old Holland Village Shopping Centre. She’s definitely one of the longest standing tenants and she also sums up what Holland Village is all about: personality, personal service and creativity, first and foremost.

You’ll be amazed what Angie can do with artefacts and momentos, as well as standard paintings and photography. She’ll take her time on it, discuss options with you and draw it out so you’ll know exactly what to expect! And she’ll also work with you or your interior designer to blend with your home décor, making sure the artwork – whether it’s a corkboard of memories or a valuable painting – completes and complements your home.

Gold, gems and jewels

Serving up a gorgeous collection of jewellery and fashion, Embrace+ by Kai Life started in 2008 in Holland V; it’s a great spot for finding jewellery treats and gift ideas. This multi-label store also features its own house brand,  The Embrace Collection, which is known for its sterling silver and gold jewellery with gemstones and pearls. We love the Modern Jade collection in solid gold! Think chic, tasteful jade pieces for everyday. You can also shop unique handcrafted pieces from well-known Spanish jewellery brands like Unode50 and Velatti.

Local-based fashion label Indiibreeze is also stocked here, and features chic, comfy maxi dresses and jumpsuits. Then, you can pop by sister brand El Olivo (next door) for some gourmet Spanish treats!

A modern Italian restaurant in Holland Village

La Nonna is a modern trattoria in the heart of Holland Village. With a name that translates as ‘The Grandmother’ in Italian, it’s known for its honest, hearty Italian dishes; the food is very much like how ‘Grandma’ would have cooked – and it’s served in an unpretentious atmosphere.

Signature dishes on the menu include: Taglierini al Tartufo, Linguine al Granchio, Pizza La Nonna, Pizza Nera, Manzo, Agnello, Tiramisu and Chocolate Lava Cake.

Lim’s home décor and gifts

A trip to HV isn’t complete without a visit to Lim’s Holland Village – especially if you love home décor and furniture! Located on the second floor of Holland Road Shopping Centre, this family-run store has been a local mainstay since the 1970s; founder CK Lim loves this area of Singapore so much, he even included “Holland Village” in the brand name!
