Singapore Street Style: Meet Kamana Bhaskaran

Who said Singapore street style lacks originality? We took to the streets, camera in hand, ready to snap women who exude individuality and an awesome sense of personal style! We ask Kamana Bhaskaran, a blogger from socialandstyle.com about what inspires her.

Her story

Hi! I’m a full time lifestyle blogger at Social and Style. I’m Indian American and was raised just outside of Washington DC. It’s been an amazing six months living here so far, and my husband and I are now looking forward to the arrival of our first baby in September!

Her style is…

Modern, feminine and graceful, yet edgy. A classic silhouette with modern touches and accessories is my go-to style. I’ve also discovered that maternity fashion doesn’t have to be boring; I’m having so much fun experimenting with what feels comfortable and makes me feel beautiful.

Where she shops…

I love supporting brands with a mission that I believe in. I also strive to support local female entrepreneurs and designers. I like House of Sheens, Love Bonito and Tangs, where I’ve discovered amazing designers such as Aijek.

Her wardrobe must-haves…

A midi-dress! I love dresses in general, and midi-dresses are so elegant but can also look fun and quirky.

A fun fact…

Travelling is my passion. I believe in the mantra “experiences are greater than things”.

Her guilty pleasures…

My morning cup of tea, when I can relax, be mindful, and focus on gratitude.

Favourite places for shopping abroad is…

In the local markets, from the streets of India to the sidewalks of Florence, I always find hidden gems. I’m inspired by the places I go to on my travels and the stories of the people I meet.

“Always stay true to yourself. I love to incorporate my South Asian heritage into my outfits with accessories like an heirloom necklace from my mother or a woven shawl from my grandmother.”
