Looking for stylish clothes that fit (oh, and that don’t break the bank either)? We hear lots of people moan that they trawl the malls and go home empty handed, so we asked the Expat Living team to come up with suggestions to save your feet. Take this list with and you’re guaranteed to find something on your very first excursion to the shops.
Marks & Spencer scored for underwear and the basics while Esprit, Zara, River Island, Wallis, Gap, Oasis (at Robinsons), Bysi, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge get a mention as high street brands that cater to “expat” bodies. Here are 10 more:
What we like: It’s cheeeeeaap!
Location: Various, there’s a big one at 313 Somerset
What we like: One size generally fits all, but you have to try them on. They do jersey, polyester and lightweight cotton styles, plus cheap accessories. Good range for taller women in maxi styles. Dresses around $40 each.
What we like: Another fashion fix and good for work outfits
Location: Various including ION, Raffles City Mall and Isetan
What we like: When it’s on sale! The fit is good for expat bodies with boobs and bums that need to be accommodated! Sizes up to 22.
Location: ION and Metro level 3 in Paragon
What we like: Some quirky dresses (though sizing can be a bit limited)
Location: Novena Square, Great World City
What we like: It’s reasonably priced, they carry largish sizes and outfits with a twist
Location: Paragon, 313 Somerset and Tampines
What you like: Good fit and great styles, but it does come at a (high-ish) price
Shopping at Tiffany’s
What we like: A multitude of dresses in styles and colours to suit everyone
Location: Tanglin Mall
What we like: It’s a fashion hit, with something for everyone
Location: Outlets include Raffles City Mall and ION
What we like: When many other brands, that follow the northern hemisphere’s seasons, bring in winter clothing, this Aussie brand brings in its summer collection.
Location: Isetan, Changi Airport, ION
