Seafood Mania, the latest buffet promotion at Food Capital, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, brings together seafood on ice, Japanese favourites, live cooking stations and a rotating selection of hot dishes. But what should you eat first at this seafood buffet in Singapore? Here are five rules for making the most of the spread – plus a special 30 percent discount for EL readers.
Rule #1: Head straight for the seafood on ice
There’s always one part of the buffet everyone makes a beeline for, and at Seafood Mania it’s the seafood-on-ice station. Chilled tiger prawns, New Zealand mussels, flower clams, sea whelks and scallops with roe are reason enough to start there. Going for dinner? That’s when freshly shucked oysters, snow crab legs and baby lobsters join the line-up too.
Rule #2: Pace yourself at a seafood buffet
A mountain of prawns might seem like a great idea… until you realise you’ve barely left room for the hot dishes. Seafood Mania’s menu rotates throughout the promotion, so beyond the chilled seafood you’ll find dishes such as Singapore chilli crab, black pepper slipper lobster, salted egg yolk prawns, seafood paella, garlic butter prawns, lobster thermidor and pan-seared salmon with crustacean cream. You’ll thank yourself later if you save a little room.
Rule #3: Head for the live stations
It’s easy to get distracted by the seafood on ice, but don’t walk past the live stations. They’re serving GCW Signature Laksa, prawn noodles, Thai boat noodles and seafood pasta, all cooked to order. There’s something satisfying about watching your meal come together in front of you.
Rule #4: Don’t forget the rest!
Seafood takes centre stage, but it’s not the only thing worth making room for at this hotel buffet. There are also Japanese favourites including fresh sashimi, assorted maki rolls, aburi sushi and crispy soft-shell crab tempura, along with hearty roasts from the carving station.
Rule #5: Take your time
A buffet isn’t just about getting your money’s worth. Half the fun is deciding what deserves a second helping. Food Capital’s riverside setting gives you every excuse not to rush, and the Seafood Mania dinner comes with an extra treat too: from Sunday to Thursday, every two adults receive a lobster and freshly grilled surf and turf barbecue. On Fridays and Saturdays, every two adults can choose any two of three table-served dishes: a Western-style lobster, a local-style crab or signature drunken prawns.
