A feminine wash that does more than cleanse

6th September 2021 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

Did you know: your regular body wash or soap might be too drying for your intimate area? The skin down below is often more sensitive than other parts of the body, so it may react poorly (in the form of dryness and itch – eek!) to harsh additives and fragrances found in some off-the-shelf cleansers. If you’re looking for a good feminine wash that gently cleanses, soothes and hydrates the delicate area around your intimates, try French-made, gynaecologist-approved feminine care brand Woman Essentials.

Feminine wash, soothing mist and more

While ageing is a common cause for skin fragility and sensitivity around the intimate area, vaginal dryness and irritation can occur to anyone of any age. Hormonal changes can result in dullness, hyper-pigmentation and dryness around the vulva.

Woman Essentials is a high-end French cosmetics range that aims to treat all aspects of feminine care. Tested and approved by dermatologists and gynaecologists using strict clinical protocols, the brand has also created a joint laboratory with the French National Center for Scientific Research to address related issues. All the products in the range are also tested in-vitro on 3D vulva and vaginal epithelium models.

Exclusively available in Singapore at clean beauty online store Beauty Closet, the feminine care range is cruelty-free and feature sustainable packaging. The hypoallergenic products are made with 98 to 100 percent natural ingredients that are ethically sourced; they’re suitable all skin types and body parts, such as the delicate bikini area and underarms. Additionally, they can help to enhance skin recovery after cosmetic procedures like lasers and waxing. The comprehensive line includes everything from intimate deodorising mists to a moisturising feminine wash for dry and sensitive skin.

Powerful plant-based extracts

Among the key ingredients in this winning formula is the bio-regenerative purple orchid, known for its exceptional repairing powers. Its unique polyphenols suppress enzymes that cause deterioration of the cell matrix and its essential components like collagen.

There’s also the whitening orchid complex, a combination of bio-regenerative orchid with hyaluronic acid and white nymphaea flower extract. This complex forms the core of the brightening line; it corrects hyper-pigmentation and reduces inflammation in the most fragile areas. The brightening line is also suitable for use after pregnancy, during menopause or peri-menopause, or when the skin is more prone to sensitivity and irritation.

I really enjoyed using the Bain Blanc – Brightening Replenishing Gentle Wash ($59), a soap- and paraben-free vaginal cleanser suitable for top-to-toe washing. Great for daily use, the gentle feminine wash provides immediate relief from dryness and itch. With consistent use over time, it aims to restore lost plumpness and radiance due to hormonal changes, ageing and inflammation. Its balanced PH level of 5.5 strengthens vaginal microbiota, which can also help to prevent urinary tract infections.

For me, off-the-shelf soaps can cause a stinging sensation – especially down below, where the skin tends to be more sensitive. Thankfully, this gentle wash is nothing like that! After each use, my skin feels cleaner, softer and more moisturised. I even find myself looking forward to my daily shower as the subtle and delicate scent is soothing and calming.

After cleansing, I like to follow up with the Deo Blanc – Brightening Soothing Body Mist ($55). This travel-friendly mist is a gentle skin-brightening deodorant spray that features 99 percent natural active ingredients like aloe vera and star lily extract. It’s specially formulated to gently remove odour, brighten and freshen up the delicate skin around the intimate zone. The mist is ultra-fine so you get the perfect amount with each spray. Another plus: the light scent is a refreshing pick-me-up – especially for hot middays!

If you’re looking for an effective yet lightweight intimate cream that hydrates without clogging the pores, try the Baume Blanc – Brightening Replenishing Balm ($73). This daily repairing balm combats dark spots and restores skin elasticity, while soothing inflammation caused by external aggressors. In fact, the multi-tasker boosts healing at a similar rate as vitamin C at 5 percent concentration! It’s non-sticky (which I love), and helps to brighten skin dullness in areas like the groin, areola and underarms.
