TEENS: Sex, Drugs & Alcohol- Parenting in Singapore, talk & brunch- FULL
16 November @ 8:45 am - 11:00 am
It’s easy to assume kids aren’t dabbling in sex, drugs and alcohol, especially in a place with a squeaky clean reputation like Singapore. But it’s also naive. Teens will be teens!
This is why navigating the teen years can be so tough – because teenage mistakes around sex, drugs and alcohol can have implications for the whole family. Dr Neil Forrest sees many teens (and their parents) in his practice, and in this morning talk he will share his learnings on how to avoid the common teen pitfalls.
Here are the topics he’ll touch on:
* Evolving sexuality
* STIs and sexual health
* Alcohol abuse
* Risk-taking behaviours
He’ll also discuss how to speak to your teenager about these subjects – what to say and what not to say!
Lastly, Dr Forrest will highlight the legalities around these topics – for example, do doctors have a legal obligation to tell authorities if they know an underage child is having sex or under the influence of drugs? And he’ll advise on when to seek support if you are concerned about your teen. As this is a small group setting, there will also be a question and answer session.
