Heard of pasar malam? It’s an Indonesian and Malay expression (“pasar” directly translates to “bazaar”). Pasar malam in Singapore is an evening street market (aka night market) similar to those you’d find in Indonesia and Malaysia too. Night markets in Singapore have been around for ages; they’re like an old-school pop-up fair. They tend to be held in neighbourhoods, though some are also found in central areas. Often, their main attraction is food stalls (Ramly burgers are a big thing), but you’ll also find retail offerings and fun games and rides for kids.
