There’s something about this time of year that stirs up my inner shopper. It could be the seasonal drops from so many fashion brands, or maybe it’s just the anticipation for the F1 Building to come alive with the fabulous Boutique Fairs Singapore. Either way, the Spring Summer 2024 Edition couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Even more excitingly, this year’s fair in Singapore has a line-up to brag about. We’re talking spring fashion, décor and accessories across 300 brands, including 80 new independent designers and over 200 exclusive product launches. Plus, there’s a first ever exhibition too! Before you go, here’s our guide to grabbing some fresh finds.
What’s new?
For the first time ever, there’ll be even more fabulous fashion and design to take in at Boutiques! Take a break from browsing the latest styles to explore the new solo exhibition helmed by industrial designer Karyn Lim. Her work has been exhibited at Milan Design Week, Tokyo Design Week and Singapore Design Week, among others.
A successful shopping trip requires a few moments to refuel, debrief and discuss potential purchases. Boutique Fairs Singapore has made sure you’re catered for just this by introducing dedicated cafés and coffee stations in every room. You can also redeem one complimentary goodie for each ticket at this fair in Singapore (while stocks last), so you can enjoy a healthy treat or hot drink before hitting up more brands!
And while this isn’t exactly news, if you’re like me and you struggle guessing sizes and fit from a photo on your laptop, this shopping paradise lets you try on as much as you’d like! There are always plenty of changerooms too, so you can quickly find the perfect size, colours and fabric!
10 brands we can’t wait to browse
#1 Fit for a goddess: Erika Peña
As soon as I saw the name Erika Peña, I was excited about the chance to see her iconic and dramatic dresses in person. This is a Latin-inspired clothes range, from swimwear and resort wear to signature dresses adorned with head-turning bows, ruffles and cascading tiers of fabric. And did you know Erika’s couture designs have been worn by the likes of Beyonce and Jessica Alba? Definitely add this stall to your shopping plan and spring fashion style! Available in sizes up to US20.
#2 Artisanal accessories: Gianara
I’m a firm believer that accessories are a girl’s best friend. They are timeless pieces that can take an outfit from day to night, year round. Gianara, an Indonesian craft-focused label, is offering something quite special by working closely with local artisans. Its collection includes intricately beaded bags and hand-embroidered accessories inspired by art and travel.
Exclusive: “Forest of Dreams” is a new collection sparked by the beauty of Indonesia’s rainforests. Expect intricate hand-embroidered beads and sequins on soft lambskin leather, handcrafted necklaces and brooches.
#3 Celebrating the cheongsam: PaoPao Label
A cheongsam is an elegant staple wardrobe piece, so it’s about time we see more ways to wear it! PaoPao reworks traditional elements into wearable silhouettes with a contemporary spin. Here you can find something for work, play and formal occasions.
Exclusive: PaoPao will be launching “Monochromatic Orientalism II”, an extension of its raved-about first launch, but with even more designs and colours.
#4 Walk into sustainable spring fashion: KIBO
Who doesn’t love finding out that a brand they like also gives back to the community? Footwear is often on the opposite side of this endeavour, but not the sneakers at KIBO! This is footwear made using repurposed materials like apple waste, leather trimmings and recycled post-consumer plastic. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from every pair is donated to Compassion First, a not-for-profit organisation helping victims of human-trafficking in Indonesia.
Exclusive: KIBO will be working with 9-year-old artist, Andre Chu, to create a limited edition design launching exclusively at Boutiques. A portion of the proceeds from this collection goes to Mother’s Choice, which supports families in need.
#5 Find your fit: 3EIGHTH
No one knows an excellent fit better than a tailor! Established in 2018 by designer Sheryl Yeo, 3EIGHTH is a female-fronted, women-focused tailoring house. The name is inspired by the term “three eighths of an inch”, which is used as an allowance for garment pattern drafting. At Boutiques, get ready to shop the newest ready-to-wear collections that feature brand new designs and silhouettes.
Exclusive: Alongside this brand’s new collection, expect to find one-of-a-kind shirts and hats, some made with surplus fabric from producing custom clothing.
#6 Distinctive décor: Cement Produce Design
It’s hard to find unique interior decor in Singapore that, simply put, no one else has a version of. If this sounds familiar, you’ll want to have a look at Cement Produce Design. This playful Japanese home décor and lifestyle stall offers a range of unexpected finds from lighting to home accessories and stationery. The best part? The products aren’t carried in any Singapore stores, so you’ll be the first to shop them at Boutiques!
#7 Where crystals take centre stage: Clara Forno Ikigai
Founded by Clara Forno, an Argentinian expat formerly based in Singapore, Clara Forno Ikigai offers dainty handmade jewellery. The range includes necklaces, anklets, bracelets, chains, charms and more, perfect for those who love to layer, or as lovely pieces all on their own. Don’t miss connecting with Clara before she returns home to Madrid!
Exclusive: Keep an eye out for the new collection launch! “Faith” features angels, clovers and more.
#8 Eclectic is in: Objects.re
If, like me, you love chancing upon interesting home décor items, you’ll love what newcomer Objects.re has to offer. This treasure trove has a range of vintage and second-hand goods, designer and handmade furniture, tableware, trinkets, art, textiles and more, all lovingly sourced by Najwa Jumali. Additionally, proceeds from each sale go to supporting animal shelters and rescuers in Singapore.
#9 Modern metalwork: Lievik Atelier
With an ethos of “transforming tradition”, Lievik Atelier honours Indonesian traditions from the past and incorporates elements from the Nusantara metal tradition to create contemporary art pieces. Here you’ll find a range of work inspired by the ethnic and contemporary art of Indonesia.
#10 Wild kids’ clothing: IKKIKIDZ
This is not your typical kids’ fashion brand; it’s for little ones with attitude! How so? For one thing, its Boutiques-exclusive capsule collection takes a stand against animal poaching and habitat destruction. The clothing designs are also sustainably produced, made with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified premium bamboo viscose and GOTS-certified organic cotton.
