25 January - 13 February
Co-produced with the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Asian premiere of Miss Julie opens in Singapore before making its way to Hong Kong for the Hong Kong arts festival.
Hong Kong playwright Amy Ng’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie tells the story of Julie, the daughter of a British tycoon who crashes a servants’ party in post-war Singapore. Soon, regular fun descends into a chaos of class manipulation and power.
Although Miss Julie is set in 1948, it is really a play about now. What they talk about and explore in the play – power, sex, and race – is still relevant today.
This production is the result of an exciting collaboration between Amy, Singaporean director Ng Choon Ping and a UK/Singapore cast. Miss Julie stars Heidi Parsons, Steve Chusak and Sharon Mah.
