An Introduction to Public Art with Sam Lo
6 June, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
In online workshop, participants will explore the many ways public art has been used as a powerful tool to bridge art and the audience, the process of creation, different techniques and methods that artists use and why they use them. There will be a short interactive segment where participants will start conceptualising their very own piece.
This is led by Sam Lo, a Singapore-based visual artist whose work revolves around social commentaries fueled by daily observations of their surroundings and research into the sociopolitical climate.
Sam has had solo exhibitions – The LIMPEH Show (The Substation, Singapore 2015), Greetings From Singapore (One East Asia Gallery, Singapore 2017), “For Better, For Worse” (Pegasos5, Besser Space, Melbourne 2017) – and has also showed and participated at showcases such as Art Central Hong Kong 2018, Singapore Art Week 2018, Melbourne Festival 2017, Project Dreamcatchers at Singapore Art Museum 2016, Georgetown Festival 2014 (Penang, Malaysia), Seoul Art Toy Culture Convention 2014, Urbanscapes KL 2012 and Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2013. Commercially, Sam was commissioned to create permanent artwork in Nike’s first flagship store in Southeast Asia, and also released their first timepiece collaboration with Casio’s G-SHOCK, a limited edition watch to commemorate Singapore’s National Day. Sam is also an associate of YALLA Artist Management and Creative Consultancy.
Registration is required for this free workshop. The webinar link will be sent to participants three days prior to the workshop. This is part of the SSBY Masterclass series.
