Zap hyperpigmentation and sun spots

9th February 2019 by Anthia Chng 2 Min Read

Modern technology and advanced aesthetic treatments are paving the way for us to get better and clearer skin more easily. Here we zero in on Amaris B. Picocare Fractional Laser, a painless laser treatment that treats a variety of skin issues including freckles, dull skin, open pores, active acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and sun spots.

How it works

Amaris B. Picocare Fractional Laser is an FDA-approved picosecond laser that comes with a fractional hand piece (called HEXA Microlens Array Technology, or HEXA MLA), which uses Laser Induced Optical Breakdown. The hand piece boasts a wide range of spot sizes for better precision, making it safer and more advanced compared to other laser procedures.

Also, as it’s a picosecond laser, it can generate faster pulses compared to nanosecond pulse lasers, which were previously the common standard. This shortens the downtime and allows for each session to be completed within less time. Compared to traditional laser treatments, the side effects are minimal. You can expect pinkish spots or slight redness for up to four to five days after your treatment, so staying out of the sun and keeping your skin moisturised is important for recovery.

Who it’s for

This laser treats a variety of skin concerns including dull skin, acne and acne scars, rosacea, pigmentation, sun-damaged skin and melasma. It has also been used for general skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing purposes. By minimising the heat transfer and delivering stronger energy to targeted areas, Picocare can also treat darker skin types, which are typically more exposed to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Evening things out

Uneven skin tone, also known as hyperpigmentation, is a common skin concern caused by the overproduction of melanin. Culprits include hormonal changes, sun exposure and environmental pollution. With its multiple treatment wavelength capabilities and it being a picosecond laser, Amaris B. Picocare Fractional Laser effectively addresses dermal and epidermal pigmentation issues in a shorter time. It can improve skin appearance and even out skin tone for a clearer complexion. For best results, a series of two to six sessions once every one to four weeks is recommended.

Speed up recovery

Amaris B. Clinic offers a doctor-approved SkinSOS Botanical Facial Series, which is the perfect accompaniment to your laser treatment. Using only pure Australian botanical ingredients, each facial is tailored to target specific skin concerns. The series of facials help to increase cellular turnover, remove dead skin cells and repair the skin, leaving it refreshed and healthy looking.

Where to go

Laser treatments can only be performed by a medical doctor who is trained and qualified to operate a laser machine. At Amaris B Clinic, all treatments require a consultation with Medical Director Dr Ivan Puah, an appointed trainer for Picocare in Singapore. Dr Puah has over 20 years of clinical practice in medicine, including 14 years in surgical body sculpting treatments, laser skin treatments and injectables such as Botox and fillers.
