After a successful launch in Singapore, Maryam Haroon tells us what it’s like to take her jewellery designs internationally with the launch of a new online store. Inspired by Asia’s buzzing cultures and vivid colours, Maarz Pearls has become well-known on Singapore’s indie fashion scene for its affordable, wearable and classy jewellery creations for women.
Designed by Maryam in Singapore, each piece is crafted by hand in Shanghai using pearls and semi-precious stones and crystals sourced on her travels around the world. “I want to show women that pearls can be worn by anyone, at any age,” she says. “I’m inspired to show how they can look modern by combining them with other materials.”
Now, she’s celebrating a new milestone – the launch of her online store – which has been a long time coming! “I’ve had a great response doing pop-up events and taking appointments the last few years, but as the brand has grown I’ve had a lot of interest from people outside Singapore (the UK and Dubai, for example) who want to browse the entire range.” Motivated by feedback, she has now launched her website and new collections to go with it.
Our favourite picks? The eye-catching Druzy collection, which features the distinctive stone in bold hues of fuchsia pink, electric blue and black. What’s more, each of the necklace and bracelet designs are plated in 18k gold and sterling silver for a luxe finish.
