Review crew: We taste chocolates!

31st December 2018 by Melinda Murphy 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/where-to-get-the-best-chocolate-singapore/

The Review Crew is at it again, this time sampling fancy chocolates, all made right here in Singapore. Each of the brave chocolate-loving ladies sampled 15 different bonbons, Rough day, right? So which chocolates past the test?

Review Crew january 2019 robertson qua

#1 Anjali

This small chocolate stand at Tanglin Mall delivers quite the indulgent punch. Each unique chocolate flavour combo is the brainchild of the founder, including an entire Singapore-inspired collection. Made daily, every piece is a taste of heaven. 16-piece box, $56

#2 Awfully Chocolate

A local chain known across Singapore for indulgent, delicious cakes, this store also offers a truffle collection. The shell on these was quite hard with a softer, overly-flavoured inside. Truth? We think they should stick to cakes. 18-piece box, $45

#3 Janice Wong

Not only are these chocolates in the basement of Paragon absolutely delicious, but they’re also the most beautiful pieces of confectionery we have ever seen – works of art, in fact. This spot also offers the most unusual flavours in town. Sampling three wasn’t nearly enough; now we all want to try Janice’s dessert bar in Holland! 16-piece box, $58

#4 Antoinette

Step into this bistro at Mandarin Gallery and transport yourself to Paris. The incredibly attentive staff make you feel like a queen while you nibble the chocolates. While the candies were good, the real reason to take your Valentine here is the ambience and the price. The stunning desserts also looked pretty good. 9-piece box, $16

#5 Laurent Bernard

Their special chilled room here in Robertson Quay is a bit like a cheese fridge or wine cellar, only it’s filled to the ceiling with chocolates, making you feel like you’re shopping for true luxury in chocolates. The cappuccino praline was to-die-for, but other flavours were less impressive. 16-piece box, $72
