Halloween trivia
Halloween is steeped in history – as is the connection to costumes. It probably originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear scary outfits to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, some Samhain traditions were incorporated into All Saints’ Day (1 November), a time to honour saints and martyrs. The evening before it became known as All Hallows’ Eve, and later Halloween. Today, of course, it’s all about fun: dressing up in Halloween costumes, carving out pumpkins and trick-or-treating for candy! Here’s our guide to all you need for making a fun and scary Halloween in Singapore.
