Whether it’s plates, crockery, cutlery, wine glasses or accessories, “memorable dinner parties start with a beautifully laid dining table”. So says Panagiotis Lynas, co-founder of furniture store House of AnLi. We find out why one Expat Living reader turned to House of AnLi to buy tableware to host a special dinner party.
Nancy Gleason, American
“I was looking for a store to help me make my home more sophisticated but not over-decorated. I hoped to find beautiful items at an accessible price. There was a lack of harmony in my dining room – it wasn’t a great space for entertaining or making memories with friends and family.
House of AnLi worked with me to identify well-priced, perfectly coordinated pieces in store. This included all the tableware, a Versailles dining table, a bench and six Marseille chairs. Even the linens the team suggested for the table helped give everything the professional and organised look I was after amongst the chaos of the kids’ toys and baby gear!
The relaxed, understated muted colours, and the elegance of how the tableware worked together brought to life my hope of having a calm and welcoming entertainment area. Over the years, I’ve gone back to the store to upgrade this or that, or add to my tableware and serving collection. New items like an extra platter or a candle add new flare to our dining table. It all coordinates with what we already have, and that makes it fun to keep adding bits.
When House of AnLi first came to our house, they showed me simple and inexpensive ways to spruce up the space. We hung a painting over a wall-switch that wasn’t used, upgraded our ceiling fan and even switched the position of our couch. The personal touch and expertise of the team were exactly what the space needed. So, not only did we buy new tableware, but we received amazing advice and interior direction.
Now, we use the dining area and my fun tableware almost every day. And every day it makes me smile.”
