Need to plan out some cool holiday activities for the kids? You’ll find there’s an arsenal of fun to be had playing laser tag.
Laser tag is a hi-tech game of hide-and-seek that uses laser guns to “tag” your opponents in a specially designed arena. It’s like paintball without the pain, or the mess.
Canadian brand Laser Quest is one of the biggest names in in the laser tag industry worldwide, and there are two Singapore venues: at HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok and Tampines. We’ve put together seven reasons why an action-packed shoot-’em-up session should be on your list of things to do this holiday.
Get up and go
Laser tag is a great way to get kids moving. While younger kids don’t need much motivation to run around like maniacs, laser tag is just the thing to tempt your teens out from their grungy bedrooms and away from their screens. As well as the opportunity to get their hands on a laser blaster, the sci-fi surroundings feature special lighting and effects that make it about as close as it gets to being in a computer game.
It’s cool for kids, and grownups too
While players need to be eight years old or a minimum of 1.1 metres tall to wear the combat vest and handle the equipment, there’s no upper age limit. Laser tag is a fun activity for the whole family, and a great way to bond with your offspring while getting a little of your own back! Lock and load kids, we’re going in.
Safe but fun
Because there are no physical projectiles involved, the only thing that’s likely to get hurt is your pride when your kids out-gun you. A Game Marshall is always on patrol in the arena to make sure everyone is playing fair and having fun.
The perfect place to party
Planning a summer birthday bash or an end of school get-together? A laser tag party is a great (and affordable) way to celebrate. Games can be tailored to your particular group dynamics with get-out-there-and-blast-each solo-based play, or team missions, like “Last Man Standing” or “Long Live the King”. Party packages at Laser Quest start from $355 with a 30-40 person function room available after the mission.
Every game is unique
Whether you opt for individual play or a group event, no two games will ever be the same, no matter how often you go. Player dynamics shift every time, so each session sees kids up against new challenges. Quick thinking and catlike reflexes are the only way to come out on top.
Win prizes
As well as being a great June holiday activity, there are also regular competitions so kids can put their newly honed sharp-shooting skills into action. Coming up this summer, HomeTeamNS is hosting two days of team contests in Bukit Batok (29 July) and Tampines (5 August), with the prize of a two-day-one-night stay at the HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok Deluxe Villa. Check out the Laser Quest Galactica contest website to find out more.
Special June holiday activities
If a regular play session just isn’t enough, HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok has put together a two-day extravaganza of fun June holiday activities (7-8 June and 20-21 June). Zoom Camp is suitable for six-to-12-year-olds and includes a Laser Quest shootout, icebreaker games, a talent show, a session at Clip n Climb, and plenty of play time at T-Play.
