Entertaining children can be hard especially in the school holidays when many friends have headed home for the break. Here are some hidden gems – some things to do that are guaranteed to cure those break-time blues and maybe save your sanity!

#1 Challenge Cubes

Older kids and younger children with parents are guaranteed to love spelunking in these artificial caves in Bukit Batok, negotiating tricky situations – and complete darkness! challengecubes.com

#2 Diggersite

This new edutainment spot is perfect for young kids and totally worth the trip to Yishun. They’ll love getting to operate all sorts of earth-moving equipment from diggers to cranes. diggersite.weebly.com

#3 SUP-ing

Singapore is an island, so why not try something cool in the water? Stand-up paddle boarding is great fun (and exercise!) for the whole family. Kids should be good swimmers and younger kids should have a parent with them. supschool.com.sg

#4 Geocaching

Did you know there are over 600 geocaches hidden in Singapore (and millions worldwide)? Hunting for a geocache is like taking your kids on the ultimate treasure hunt and teaching them cool technology while you’re at it. Just log on to start. geocaching.com

#5 Pottery Making

For budding artists, Goodman Ceramic Studio offers great clay classes in both hand building and throwing. And they have family workshops, too, so roll up your sleeves and let your imagination run wild. goodmanceramicstudio.com

#6 Yakult Factory Tour

Factories are always mesmerising so this factory tour makes our list of unusual things to do with kids. Check out the Yakult Factory and see how those favourite little drinks are made and learn some fascinating STEM stuff while you’re at it. yakult.com.sg
