Outdoor furniture picks

We interviewed some of our readers why they chose their outdoor furniture and how it works with their home style.

Outdoor furnitures in Singapore

Sally Cashman, Australia
‘We were looking for outdoor furniture that was simple but durable, and that could withstand the harsh Singapore climate. We already knew of Danish Design as we had purchased other pieces from the company before, and we’ve always found the customer service to be friendly and efficient.

We ended up buying a variety of Gloster outdoor furniture, including two Vista corner end units, two single lounge chairs, a coffee table and two single chairs. Our pieces all fitted really well with an outdoor lounge that we had already bought, and we are very happy with our purchases. Right now we don’t require any more furniture, but we would always consider Danish Design as an option in the future.’

Stephanie and Robert Bourque, American
“We recently moved to Singapore, and into an apartment that has wonderful views and a number of outdoor balconies, therefore we needed several pieces of patio furniture. We found out about Woody Antique House through our online research, and our experience with them has been wonderful. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and patient as we walked around the store trying to decide what we wanted.

In the end we purchased a table for six people, an L-shaped couch, two ottomans, two storage containers for cushions, a coffee table, a patio umbrella, an end table, a canopied daybed for two and a Balinese teak bench. My Balinese bench is in the foyer, but everything else fits in the exact places we had hoped.

We are thrilled with the pieces we bought. As a matter of fact, I have one balcony left to furnish, so I will definitely go back to Woody Antique House for that. It’s best to allow plenty of time to look at everything they have in the store. The prices are fair, and it’s helpful that you’re allowed to see the pieces together to get a better idea of whether you’ll like them or not. Overall, we had a great experience and would certainly recommend the store to anyone.”

“We were replacing an old outdoor sofa set and coffee table that we’d had for almost seven years. We wanted something solid and robust that could deal with being exposed to the elements. The sofa needed to match with our other pieces, and had to fit our whole family – including Gran, who visits regularly. The coffee table also needed to be large enough to comfortably hold drinks, nibbles and lots of candles.

We purchased a few items from Teak and Mahogany before, and we’re always impressed with the quality and selection. The showroom is magnificent; it holds a vast selection and is welcoming and bright, making the whole shopping experience really enjoyable. The customer service is excellent too, and we always feel very well attended to.

Our new outdoor set comprises four pieces that join together to form a U shape. The cushion selection was where we got really excited; we love Sunbrella fabric as it’s so hardy and the colour selection is just amazing. Our house is really bright, so we wanted a statement piece that honoured our love of vibrant colours. We chose bright orange cushions, and we also bought additional throw cushions in vibrant purple to finish off the resort look.

The sofa looks stunning. It makes us smile every time we sit on it; it’s a special piece that we are very happy with. My advice would be to choose something that you love and that sits well in your home; that way you’ll enjoy it for years to come.”
