A magic elixir for your scalp

6th January 2020 by Anthia Chng 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/hair-loss-dandruff-oily-scalp-treatment-phs-hairscience/

I remember having mild hair loss and dandruff briefly a couple of years back. Although it wasn’t serious, it was a real confidence buster! My scalp was annoyingly itchy and oily, and then I spotted flaky specks of dandruff peeking through. My hair was also breaking easily. After going to a specialist to get it checked, I found out the reason why. Dirt and sebum had built up on my already sensitive scalp. Because I hadn’t been cleaning my scalp properly, my hair follicles had became clogged and congested.

So I took more time to wash and massage my scalp. I also read up on scalp health and made the effort to better understand the type of hair products suitable for me. And things improved. Still, I do continue to have the occasional itch and my scalp is sometimes oily (thanks, humidity!), plus my hair still breaks easily, so I talked to PHS Hairscience Lab (Plaza Singapura) to see what remedy they’d suggest.

The solution

After a consultation with one of their specialists and a scalp analysis, my scalp still has some congestion and dirt build-up. I’m recommended the award-winning PHS Hairscience ADV Elixir ($238), a scalp primer that exfoliates and removes surface-level dead skin cells, excess sebum and residue from haircare products to unclog pores and increase the scalp’s ability to absorb vital nutrients.

This powerful serum boasts 70 percent botanical essences. It’s formulated based on the latest stem cell research, and contains rice stem cells to deeply cleanse the scalp. Also present is the brand’s proprietary Patent 5 Complex, which is an active blend of five natural Korean botanical extracts. It helps to unclog pores and prime the scalp for absorbing nutrients.

How to use

Before washing your hair, apply a generous amount of product directly to the scalp in sections, massaging it in. After 10 minutes, shampoo as usual to wash it out and follow with your conditioner. You may feel a cool and icy sensation, which is especially soothing and refreshing for irritated scalps! Use once a week if you have a normal to oily scalp, and once every two weeks if your scalp is extremely sensitive. Oilier scalps will benefit from twice-weekly applications for a month, before reducing to once a week. Psst… Read till the end for a step-by-step guide on using the elixir!

After one application: pores are cleansed and the scalp is visibly clearer

The result speaks for itself. From the scalp analysis camera, my scalp looks much cleaner and clearer right after the treatment. With consistent use, I’m sure my next visit to the specialist will be a positive one that shows my improved scalp condition!
