A future-focused curriculum!

31st August 2020 by Gracie Stewart 2 Min Read

A future-focused curriculum is one that embraces 21st-century skills. It builds those essential “core competencies” children will need to thrive in a rapidly changing and interconnected world. While theoretical and knowledge-based learning is still important at The Grange Institution, this school for expat children believes that equipping students with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to think critically will become even more crucial in the future. The school also has a great admissions deal on at the moment – read on for the details!

A future-focused curriculum

In this fast-paced and ever-changing world that we live in, The Grange adopts an innovative and progressive approach to learning. As the only school for expats in Singapore to deliver both the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and Cambridge Primary Curriculum, it offers a balanced blend of both rigorous structured subject learning and inquiry-based thematic learning.

One unique way The Grange supports learning is through Cre8tors-in-Action. This educational philosophy is embodied in every school activity. Its aim? To equip students with the following eight core competencies:

  1. Construction and design
  2. Respecting the environment
  3. Entrepreneurial spirit
  4. Active citizenship
  5. Teamwork and partnership
  6. Original ideas
  7. Recognising issues
  8. Service leadership

On top of this, relevant electives are offered that help provide students with a holistic international education. These include Personal Social & Physical Education (PSPE), Music, Art and Technology. Other offerings include Virtual Reality (VR) and Coding – very much in line with the future-focused curriculum.

The Grange also actively promotes sustainability-focused learning to enhance student knowledge and wellbeing. In keeping with this, there are plans to introduce a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Eco-School Programme in the coming year. Through this programme, students will be able to increase their awareness of current global issues (such as climate change) and immerse themselves in a different learning environment compared to other schools. They’ll also learn to cultivate sustainable practices in their everyday lives, as they’re nurtured to become active global citizens.

Now enrolling for the new school year!

The school is currently offering a promotional annual school fee of $19,900 for the academic year of 2021 (the school year at The Grange runs from January to December). To top it off, for the first 20 applicants, families can enjoy a waiver of the $500 application fee and a 50% off enrolment fee.

Find out more about The Grange Institution and contact the school at thegrange.edu.sg.
