Set dinners for a special occasion

19th November 2020 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/best-set-dinners-fine-dining-restaurants-in-singapore/

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or going all out to impress your date, these set dinners by top fine dining restaurants in Singapore are perfect for a special occasion!

La Dame de Pic

The fine dining cuisine at La Dame de Pic at Raffles Singapore showcases a clever medley of flavours, cooking techniques and the use of natural herbs and elements from local and regional markets. These are exquisite dishes that reveal influences from the Asian region while staying true to the essence of Valence, France, Chef Anne-Sophie Pic’s birthplace. This is one splurge-worthy spot to celebrate all occasions, from anniversaries to birthdays.

Dinner starts from $248 per person, and you can opt for a wine and sake ($158) or non-alcoholic pairing ($68). We definitely recommend indulging in the Berlingots, signature pasta parcels found in all of Chef Anne-Sophie Pic’s restaurants around the world, adapted to reflect the character of each establishment. La Dame de Pic’s version incorporates an Asian flair using herb of grace, which enhances the French cheese fondue filling. Don’t miss the festive menus, too. Dinner is served on Christmas Eve, followed by lunch and dinner the next day. On New Year’s Eve, enjoy a special dinner with highlights like scallop from Normandy and Melanosporum black truffle.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

Decked out in solid walnut floors with a gorgeous mahogany bar shining under the chandeliers, the famous Wolfgang’s Steakhouse boasts a warm and welcoming setting for any celebration. Available for lunch and dinner, the Italian tasting menu ($280) expertly pairs juicy cuts of USDA Prime Black Angus beef with the finest Italian wines.

The fine dining feast begins with fresh Fine De Claire oysters, paired with Is Argiolas Vermentino 2018 from Sardinia, followed by the main: three cuts of Wolfgang’s famous USDA Prime steak paired with three different Italian wines. For dessert, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse have paired their New York style Cheesecake with Villa M Bianco NV from Piedmont.

Stellar at 1-Altitude

Fancy fine dining with an amazing view? From Monday to Saturday, 6pm to 9pm, tuck into a five-course dinner ($150) at the alfresco rooftop dining area of Stellar, which boasts some of the best cityscape views in Singapore. Presented by Chef Christopher Millar and Chef Isaac Henry, the set dinner features premium and seasonal ingredients like sustainable sea bass, Iberico pork pluma, and Sanchoku Australian wagyu (top up $20).

Dessert fans will not be let down, either. You’ll be treated to Stellar’s impressive dessert art, elegantly plated at your table by the pastry chefs. Favourites include the restaurant’s rendition of pavlova, a refreshing palate-cleanser of passionfruit, strawberries, basil, vanilla and lemon verbena.

Restaurant Jag

Michelin-starred Restaurant Jag is the perfect setup for date nights and intimate celebrations. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Jeremy, and focuses on French fine dining built around the season’s produce and the diner’s dietary preferences. Fresh, seasonal vegetables are the highlight, and are infused with wild-foraged herbs of Savoie, France. Hence, no two meals are the same here. Think of it as a surprise!

Don’t we all love a home makeover!

If you are looking for some easy, low-commitment ways to spruce up your home for the new year we have six tips on how to do a home makeover from Caroline Chin Geyler (link on our stories) she’s the founder and principal stylist of award-winning interior styling firm Arete Culture.

The company is a four-time Gold Winner in our Expat Living Readers’ Choice Awards (2017-2020) in the interior design and home styling category so they certainly know their stuff.

As well as some fab tips she’s offering a special Chinese New Year makeover offer, too. At last our homes can look as stunning as these do @areteculture

Guys: did you know that your skin is structurally different from that of ladies? For most men, androgen (testosterone) stimulation results in skin that’s thicker and tougher than women’s skin. This also means you might need something more than just your wife’s, mum’s or sister’s moisturiser or face wash!

Lumin was founded on this concept; this California-based online store offers simple yet effective skincare for men, tailored to different skin types and concerns. So, whether you’re looking for a good face cleanser or a moisturiser for men, this is one brand to check out.

To differentiate Lumin from other men’s skincare brands, founders Richard Hong and Darwish Gani flew to South Korea to work on formulas that benefit the thicker and more stubborn skin constructs of men. Most of the ingredients used are powerful plant-based extracts like ginger root, rosemary, coffee and shea butter. The paraben-free and cruelty-free brand also makes a point of avoiding unnecessary nasties commonly associated with popular off-the-shelf products.

If it’s your first time shopping for men’s skincare, you’ll be glad to know that the Lumin experience is simple and fuss-free. Just fill out a brief questionnaire and you’ll get a personalised skincare regime that’s suited to your skin type and lifestyle. You can choose to go with a one-time purchase or have your products delivered on a subscription basis. Alternatively, shop from the curated range of skincare sets catered to different budgets and preferences.

The rain and cold winds getting you down? A warm beverage and maybe a good book to snuggle up to might just chase the blues away!

If hot chocolate is too mainstream for you, could we offer up this red velvet alternative? @littlefarms have a wide selection of oat milks, almond milks and soy milk options.

Since it's #Veganuary, we recommend using dairy free milks to recreate this recipe....

2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
4 medjool dates (pitted)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon beet powder

Add the milk and dates into a saucepan.
Heat, over medium, until it reaches a simmer. Add the warm milk with the dates and the remaining ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy!
