The best news we’ve received this week is that you can now get in a gym workout in less than half the time it takes to watch an episode of True Blood.

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, doing 20 minutes of high intensity exercise is just as good as a 40 to 45 minute workout at a less strenuous pace. 

What’s more, not only do you burn more calories during the workout, the intense exertion means that your body’s repair cycle continues to burn more fat and calories in the 24 hours after the workout, as compared to a steady-paced run.

Ritual 

The clever chaps over at Ritual have the 20-minute workout waxed. Created by homegrown fitness expert and coach Ian Tan, the training programme provides an intensive total body workout using kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls and suspension trainers.

Plus, Ritual provides gym kit, towels and shower pods, so not having your gym gear with you is no longer a valid excuse to skip training.

Ritual is at #03-01, 11 North Canal Road. Sessions are half-hourly from 6.30am to 9pm.
