Renting a Car in Singapore

5th February 2020 by Lindsay Yap 5 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/where-to-lease-a-car-in-singapore-car-rental-companies/

There are sooo many benefits to leasing or renting a car over buying one in Singapore. You can avoid a big down payment (usually at least 40%), get maintenance and insurance sorted out, and have access to replacement vehicles when your car is in for servicing or repairs. Many car rental companies in Singapore offer both long-term and short-term rental packages. This means that you don’t need to tie yourself down if you’re unsure of how long you’ll be living here or if you’re not sure if it’ll make financial sense. Because of the city’s good public transport, you may feel like you don’t need a car in Singapore. But there are plenty of places to explore off the grid, and having one will give you loads of flexibility, especially if you have kids. Here are some car companies to consider.

BizLink Rent-A-Car

BizLink Rent-A-Car offers both short-term and long-term rentals in Singapore, with rental packages that include road tax, insurance and servicing, and roadside assistance in Singapore and Malaysia provided by AA Singapore. You can also request for GPS and child seats (chargeable) if necessary. Known for its excellent after-sales service (check out the testimonials on the website), the company also offers extra help to those who are new in town, such as guidance about where to purchase a cash card and how the ERP system works. Keen to drive into Malaysia for the weekend? Long-term leases can be driven there, while those on daily or weekly hires can do so at a surcharge of around $30 to $50.

You can take your pick from sedans, MPVs and SUVs from models including Japanese, Korean and Continental brands. Commercial vehicles are also available. And you can also choose to rent a new or second-hand car, with the latter starting from $1,600 a month, depending on the model and size.

Evergreen Rent A Car

Evergreen Rent A Car Toyota Altis showroom

Choose an all-in-one car rental package from Evergreen Rent A Car, and you can take your pick from top car brands including Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Hyundai and BMW. You’ll also be able to select from economy hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs, MPVs and luxury vehicles. The company offers both long-term and short-term rentals that include the all-important collision damage reduction, road tax, and maintenance and servicing costs. If your budget allows it, you can opt for a brand new car for your leasing package, or from the wide range of used cars in the fleet. New car models on offer include the Toyota Camry and Toyota Vios, while the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Vezel and Toyota Harrier are all among the used car range.

All rental cars come with unlimited mileage, comprehensive insurance coverage (with complimentary usage in Malaysia), 24-hour breakdown service in Singapore, replacement of tyres (wear and tear only) and battery, and a replacement vehicle during repair or breakdown. Cars also undergo regular maintenance. If you have more than one driver, the company won’t charge more for the additional drivers.

ComfortDelGro Rent-A-Car

ComfortDelgro Rentacar Mazda CX5

At ComfortDelGro Rent-A-Car, you’ll find a variety of car rental packages, from daily and monthly to long-term options that cater to expats. Rental prices include vehicle insurance, maintenance and unlimited mileage – even daily packages come with comprehensive motor insurance. If you require a GPS system or child/booster seats, the team can supply them at an additional cost. They have a 24-hour emergency breakdown service in Singapore and if you’re driving in West Malaysia, the company has a network of towing services and workshops.

Take your pick from sedans, MPVs, SUVs and commercial vehicles from different brands, including the latest models on the market. The fleet includes luxury models like Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and BMW, and Japanese and Korean makes such as Toyota, Mazda and Hyundai. Prices start from $1400 per month, depending on the type of car and rental period. All vehicles undergo regular checks to ensure they’re in a good condition. And during servicing or if an accident occurs, a replacement vehicle will be provided so you won’t be left hanging without a ride. In light of COVID-19, precautionary measures are being taken, including sanitising all vehicles thoroughly to ensure the safety of hirers and staff. Check out ongoing short-term rental promotions here.

Avis Singapore

Avis Singapore Chevrolet Captiva

Avis Singapore offers a wide range of car rental packages; you can opt for long-term or short-term rental, with monthly and even daily arrangements. Daily rentals are perfect for one-off uses, such as when family is in town. They start from $90 per day, depending on the type of car and duration of rental. You’ll also be pleased to know that the short-term car rental packages include various benefits that longer-term leasers enjoy, such as theft protection, 24-hour breakdown assistance and collision damage waiver.

The company has a large fleet where you can choose from compact sedans to SUVs and luxury models, from brands such as Mazda and Toyota. If you’re in for a long-term lease, you’ll have the option to choose between a used or new car. Prefer to save some cash? Get a second-hand car (less than five years old) with a minimum 12-month lease and lower monthly payments. What’s more, the company is constantly rolling out special deals on rental packages; check them out now. They were also recently voted best vehicle rental and leasing company in 2019 by APAC Insider.

Short-term rentals (below 12 months) start from $105 a day. For a long-term lease, you can get a pre-owned car with a minimum one-year lease or a new car for a minimum three-year lease. The leasing package includes comprehensive insurance, road tax, maintenance, a replacement vehicle when servicing or in the event of a breakdown, and tyre and battery replacement if required. Guys: did you know that your skin is structurally different from that of ladies? For most men, androgen (testosterone) stimulation results in skin that’s thicker and tougher than women’s skin. This also means you might need something more than just your wife’s, mum’s or sister’s moisturiser or face wash!

Lumin was founded on this concept; this California-based online store offers simple yet effective skincare for men, tailored to different skin types and concerns. So, whether you’re looking for a good face cleanser or a moisturiser for men, this is one brand to check out.

To differentiate Lumin from other men’s skincare brands, founders Richard Hong and Darwish Gani flew to South Korea to work on formulas that benefit the thicker and more stubborn skin constructs of men. Most of the ingredients used are powerful plant-based extracts like ginger root, rosemary, coffee and shea butter. The paraben-free and cruelty-free brand also makes a point of avoiding unnecessary nasties commonly associated with popular off-the-shelf products.

If it’s your first time shopping for men’s skincare, you’ll be glad to know that the Lumin experience is simple and fuss-free. Just fill out a brief questionnaire and you’ll get a personalised skincare regime that’s suited to your skin type and lifestyle. You can choose to go with a one-time purchase or have your products delivered on a subscription basis. Alternatively, shop from the curated range of skincare sets catered to different budgets and preferences.

The rain and cold winds getting you down? A warm beverage and maybe a good book to snuggle up to might just chase the blues away!

If hot chocolate is too mainstream for you, could we offer up this red velvet alternative? @littlefarms have a wide selection of oat milks, almond milks and soy milk options.

Since it's #Veganuary, we recommend using dairy free milks to recreate this recipe....

2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
4 medjool dates (pitted)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon beet powder

Add the milk and dates into a saucepan.
Heat, over medium, until it reaches a simmer. Add the warm milk with the dates and the remaining ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy!
