The creators of local preschool Little Skool-House have recently launched Changemakers Explorer, a new preschool for ages two months to six years, across six locations in Singapore. Its signature Symphonic Learning curriculum integrates science, arts and language with child-led inquiry, overseas immersion and a bilingual drama pedagogy. Here, the team shares how this learning experience nurtures confident and empathetic thinkers.
How does Changemakers Explorer’s Symphonic Learning approach support a child’s overall development?
The Symphonic Learning approach is designed to nurture children across academic, physical and emotional domains in a connected way. Children learn to see connections between ideas rather than in ‘silos’, helping them develop critical thinking and deeper understanding.
The specialist programmes build physical coordination and cognitive skills. An emphasis on communication, inquiry and reflection helps them to strengthen emotional confidence and self-expression.
Combined, this approach creates a strong foundation not just for school readiness, but for lifelong learning.
What are some of the specialist-led programmes at Changemakers Explorer?
Our specialist-led programmes include:
- Cognitive Thinking to strengthen focus, logic and problem-solving skill
- Music & Movement to build rhythm, coordination and early auditory development
- Sports to support gross motor skills, teamwork and resilience
Each of these programmes was intentionally selected based on its developmental impact during the early years. Rather than offering a wide range of add-ons, the aim of Changemakers Explorer is to focus on areas that are foundational to how children think, move and express themselves.
Sessions are conducted once a week, and led by trained specialists who bring depth and expertise to each domain. All programmes are thoughtfully integrated into the curriculum, ensuring that children develop holistically with depth.
Tell us a bit more about how AI supports the bilingual programme.
At Changemakers Explorer, we harness technology to support each child’s bilingual journey. Our AI-enabled Chinese language tool acts as a personalised companion. It provides gentle, real-time feedback in areas such as pronunciation, listening and comprehension. This interactive support transforms practice into a more engaging and confidence-building learning experience, allowing children to progress at their own pace.
How do the facilities at Changemakers Explorer support the Symphonic Learning approach?
The learning environments at our local preschools use a Zone-in-Zone concept. This means that each classroom is organised into distinct yet interconnected learning zones. Each zone has spaces for inquiry, language, creativity and problem-solving, equipped to support different modes of learning.
This design encourages both structure and flexibility, allowing learning experiences to happen organically and with purpose. Children are empowered to navigate these zones based on their goals and interests, fostering independence, focus and ownership over their learning journey.
Tell us a bit more about the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) that’s part of language learning.
The OIP takes place once a year, with our inaugural destination being China. These trips are designed as a parent-accompanied experience, combining language immersion with cultural exploration. Children will have the opportunity to step into a local preschool environment, while families can explore cultural landmarks such as historical sites and heritage districts.
Beyond exposure to the Chinese language, OIP helps to build language confidence, cultural awareness and meaningful family bonding through shared learning experiences.
How can parents be a part of their child’s learning?
Parent involvement is an important part of the Changemakers Explorer experience. We believe that when schools and families work together, children benefit from a more consistent and supportive learning environment.
We create many opportunities for families to meaningfully engage in their child’s learning journey. These include Field Trips each term and the OIP. There are also regular communication and sharing sessions to ensure parents remain connected to their child’s progress and development.

Pamela, Singaporean, parent of Justin (7) and Amber (5)
“Both our children started at Changemakers Explorer just after they turned two. Justin started in PG in April 2021 and Haley started in N1 in February 2024. We were looking for a programme that would give our child a strong foundation in Chinese, along with a good balance between structured academics, play and dedicated teachers.
During the school tour conducted by the Principal, we felt her warmth and passion. We thought that with her caring leadership, the teachers will be well-supported. In turn, this creates a stable, positive and happy environment for the children.
Our experience with Changemakers Explorer by Little Skool-House has been wonderful so far. The teachers take time to understand every child’s unique learning style and personality, adapting their approach accordingly. The Chinese language teachers truly stand out. They’re incredibly creative in making learning the language fun and engaging. Their immersive approach makes language acquisition feel effortless and organic.
We’ve seen how both our children have grown in different ways at Changemakers Explorer. For example, the teachers challenged Justin by giving him meaningful leadership opportunities. These roles helped him learn to manage his own emotions, while supporting and guiding his peers. When he entered Primary 1, he was appointed class monitor right at the start of the term, and became the star pupil by the end of it.
Amber didn’t know any Chinese songs before joining the preschool. Within two weeks, she was already singing many Chinese songs, even more than English ones! Her genuine interest in Chinese words and songs continues to surprise us every day.”
Changemakers Explorer has six locations island-wide.
