All about the Rugby Sevens Singapore

This is the ninth of 11 tournaments in the men’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, with a star-studded line-up of the world’s best teams on show, including the legendary New Zealand All Blacks. Also battling it out in the championships for rugby supremacy are Argentina, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Samoa, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay and the USA.

Expect thrilling matches, last-minute victories and stunning tries from champion rugby players such as Akuila Rokolisoa, Marcos Moneta, Terry Kennedy and Waisea Nacuqu.

Alongside the epic rugby action, this year’s extravaganza is offering an assortment of family-friendly festivities. Read on to find out more about all the off-field event offerings.

Fun for kids

If the excitement has your kids ready to get their groove on, head to gate 18/19 for the Roller Kids and Roller Disco Zones. Instructors are there to help and provide all the gear for ages seven to 12.

Also, to give parents a break as they can take in the rugby action, there are Super Mart and car-themed Kids Drop-off facilities for children aged six and below.

Got some little fans of the Minions in the family? The beanbag zone at the South Dome Deck is running non-stop Minions clips all day with surprise appearances from the banana-loving characters and an easter egg hunt.

More family activities at the Singapore Sevens

Elsewhere in the event, you can take a break and channel the force with Singapore’s own Jedi lightsaber training academy. The team from The Saber Authority will test your skills in a duel at Gate 18/19!

Feel like hitting the surf between rugby matches? Ride the world’s first half-pipe surfing machine by The Stingray at the North Dome Deck. Alternatively, relax by the lazy river while your kids cool down and make a splash.

Sevens Rugby merchandise and food offerings

The official merchandise booth at the stadium’s West End has a great selection of licensed apparel and rugby paraphernalia so you can don your favourite team’s colours as you cheer them on from the stands.

This year, the food offerings are also taking festivities to the next level, with a line-up featuring Michelin-starred chefs from Burnt Ends, Meat Smith and Travelling C.O.W. Head to OCBC Square to enjoy live music, sweet and savoury delights, and a pint of beer while celebrating teams battling to become champions.

The season’s circuit takes HSBC Rugby Sevens championship through 10 countries. After Singapore, the tournament is heading to France. So don’t miss the opportunity to catch the full day of family fun while it’s in town! Grab your tickets here before they’re all gone, or visit the Rugby Sevens website for more information.
