THE RIDDLER

Can you solve these brain teasers?

#1 Susan tells Sandra, “I’ll bet you a dollar, that if you give me two dollars, I’ll give you back three dollars.” Sandra accepts the bet. Who ends up winning money?

#2 It takes 17 minutes to boil an ostrich egg; how long to boil four?

#3 Four brothers, Sanjay, Novak, Digby and Otto were each born in a different one of the months September, October, November and December. One day, Otto says, “Isn’t it a shame that none of our names start with the letter that matches the month we were born?” “Doesn’t bother me much,” replies the brother who was born in September. “That’s easy for you to say,” says Novak. “I would have liked for the initial of my birth month to be a vowel, but unfortunately it isn’t.” In which month was each brother born?

 Answers:

#1 Susan does. Sandra gives her two dollars, but she doesn’t give back three dollars, therefore she loses the bet. She then pays one dollar to Sandra for winning the best, and keeps the other dollar.

#2 Seventeen minutes; you can boil four at the same time

 #3
Digby was born in September
Sanjay was born in October
Otto was born in November
Novak was born in December
