For many people, the standard corporate co-working model is ideal at the start, especially when they’re trying to build something fast. But what if you still want to rent co-working space, just in a quieter, more discreet setting? That’s the idea behind The Experience Exchange (TEE), a private workspace in Singapore tucked into a conserved shophouse on Ann Siang Road.
Inside a private workspace on Ann Siang Road
This isn’t renting a co-working space in the usual sense. There are no rows of desks or large shared floors; instead, it’s deliberately small – designed for experienced professionals working independently who value privacy, thoughtful conversation and a calmer pace. “I tend to think of it as a second act – or the next phase,” says founder Michael Velten. “There’s no single pathway, and no template for what comes next.”
Inside, the layout feels more like a series of well-considered rooms than a traditional office. There’s a central lounge where members can work or meet clients, a boardroom for more formal discussions, and a larger space used for presentations and small workshops. There are also private rooms set up for coaching sessions, counselling or simply focused, uninterrupted work, all within this Ann Siang Road address.
The sense of community is still there – just in a different form. TEE regularly hosts small gatherings, workshops and talks aimed at professionals who are navigating what comes after a traditional corporate career. Topics range from building an independent practice to exploring board roles or portfolio careers, and the discussions tend to go a bit deeper than the usual surface-level networking.
The people you’ll meet here reflect that shift too. Members include founders, investors and senior professionals who are no longer defined by job titles, but by experience and perspective – often working on their own terms, across multiple projects or interests. The Experience Exchange Podcast extends the community beyond the space, with long-form conversations exploring reinvention, judgement and what meaningful work looks like.
There’s also an unexpected addition within this Ann Siang Road workspace: a private Pilates studio offering one-on-one and duet sessions. It’s a small detail, but one that fits the broader idea – that clarity of mind and body often go hand in hand, especially when you’re managing your own work and time.
A word from a client
I didn’t realise how much I needed a space like this until I started working more independently. When you’re no longer just “working a job” but shaping your own work, the environment matters more than people think. The Experience Exchange gives me somewhere to step out of home, meet people properly, and have conversations that don’t feel rushed or transactional. It’s calm, considered, and easy to be in – and being in Ann Siang helps, close to everything with just enough going on to make the day feel more human. – Naeema, Founder of the Reset Practice and Singapore CEO, The Marketing Room
