Here, founder MICHELLE TAN shares the story behind her brand and what inspired her journey.
Before founding Palmier Ile, your resort-wear fashion brand in Singapore, you spent a decade in corporate. What sparked the switch to fashion?
After the corporate role, I found myself seeking new experiences close to nature. Adventure has always been part of who I am, so I decided it was time to fully embrace that spirit. I set off for the beautiful island of Mauritius, where I was captivated by the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. I immersed myself in the local way of life – exploring nature, creating wonderful memories with a community of friends at Flic-en-Flac beach, and encountering skilled artisans who crafted exquisite pieces.
These joyful moments inspired me to create Palmier Ile. The brand combines my passion for craftsmanship with resort wear designed for those who cherish the beauty of nature and the joy of island living. Through Palmier Ile, I hope to share my journey and inspire you to embrace a lifestyle that celebrates both personal wellbeing and environmental consciousness – to tell your own story, uplift lives and make mindful choices together.

At Palmier Ile, we embody a lifestyle that invites you to unwind in paradise, whether you’re lounging on a tropical island or sailing on a luxurious yacht. Our collection offers a diverse selection of resort wear, including dresses, kaftans, kimonos, shawls, and pants – all designed with comfort and style in mind.
Each garment is uniquely crafted by artisans upon pre-order – this ensures that every piece is made just for you. By curating what we love and what we hope you’ll be inspired by, we invite you to share your own story with us. Who or what influences your style?
My style is influenced by personal experiences, craftsmanship and my connection to nature, which brings me peace and purpose. This inspires me to curate a collection that blends elegance with comfort and sustainability. I also love minimalist designs for their clean lines and timeless appeal.
What are you most proud of in your journey so far? And what has been the most challenging?
One of my greatest sources of pride has been the incredible individuals I have met along the way. They’ve not only inspired me to keep pushing forward but have also shown me the power of community and support. I feel truly blessed to have met many who uplift and encourage others, reminding me that we can achieve so much more together.
That said, the journey hasn’t been easy. It takes significant hard work, resilience and dedication to share my vision for the brand through my personal story and connect with a wider audience. Each challenge has pushed me to grow and discover new skills within myself that I didn’t know I had. It’s been a journey of growth that has made me more confident, adaptable and resilient.
You recently showcased some Palmier Ile resort wear at The Garden of Whispers wedding showcase at Parkroyal on Beach Road – congratulations! Can you tell us more about it?
Thank you, Cherry! We had a fantastic time collaborating with Heaven’s Gift for the event. We welcomed 60 lovely soon-to-be-wed couples for a special experience. This included a curated luncheon by Executive Chef Vincent Aw and a fabulous bridal fashion show! As part of this exciting event, we showcased four stunning pieces of Palmier Ile’s resort wear alongside many amazing partners. I shared my own story to inspire couples with ideas for their bridal parties, honeymoons and those dreamy island getaways. It was all about bringing a touch of paradise to their wedding plans. We will have another wedding showcase coming up soon!
With Christmas around the corner, is Palmier Ile offering some gifting options?
Yes, we’re super excited about the upcoming Christmas season! This year, for the first time, we’re offering personalised embroidery on our lovely shawls, so you can add names or initials to make your gifts truly special. Each shawl comes packaged with an exquisite watercolour painting wrapping that tells our brand’s story, making it feel like a little gift in itself.
