How to celebrate Oktoberfest 2023 in Singapore

21st September 2023 by Jessamy Smit 3 Min Read

Oktoberfest may have originated in Munich in Germany, but this annual event has transcended its Bavarian roots to become a global phenomenon. You definitely won’t want to miss the upcoming Oktoberfest 2023 festival in Singapore! From craft beers, delicious food and Oktoberfest-themed specials, here’s a taste of what you can look forward to at some of our favourite restaurants, bars and butchers in Singapore.

Did you know this about Oktoberfest?

The first Oktoberfest festival took place on 12 October 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony Hildburghausen. Back then, the citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. Traditionally, the Oktoberfest celebration begins in the third weekend of September and ends on the first Sunday of October.
