Here’s a little confession: through my happy years of trying various beauty products and treatments as a lifestyle editor, eyebrow embroidery was one I had always put off. Blame it on my fear of buzzing, prickly devices! But then I heard about SleekBrow on East Coast Road, which has an impressive five-star rating online and specialises in Misty Eyebrow Embroidery in Singapore with results that look incredibly natural. The treatment is also supposed to be painless. I knew it was time to take the plunge – and I’m so glad I did.
A studio for eyebrow embroidery in Singapore that started at home
Founded by a pair of sisters, Estee and Sydney, SleekBrow started out as a home-based studio during Covid and has since become one of Singapore’s favourite brow studios. (That’s no exaggeration: check out its hundreds of raving online reviews from new and returning clients.)
“We truly believe that having a good set of eyebrows empowers someone and builds confidence,” say Estee and Sydney. “We want to make it accessible for anyone without the fear of being upsold to or low-quality workmanship. If you want to go fast, go alone, but we want to go far together. This inspired us to start the business together as sisters.”
Highly personalised eyebrow embroidery in Singapore
Among the things that make SleekBrow stand out is its highly consultative approach. The sisters want to “make our clients feel beautiful” and the way to do that is by listening to them rather than simply suggesting what’s on trend.
“No one brow fits all, which is why we emphasise a lot on customisable brows. The goal is to get a clear understanding on clients’ preferences. We really prioritise two-way communication to align expectations and ideas that client have in mind. And with all this information we gathered from customers, there is no need to explain all over again on the next visit.”
Cutting-edge techniques and services
Estee and Sydney specialise in the popular Misty Eyebrow Embroidery technique. It’s a relatively new and highly versatile technique that is customisable to a client’s preferences, whether they want a bold, dramatic look or softly shaped, powdery brows with an ombre effect. This technique is also less invasive than micro-blading. It uses a fine tattoo needle (rather than blades) to deliver pigment to the higher layer of the skin, resulting in less scarring and shorter recovery time.
Constantly staying on top of the market, the sisters have newly introduced the Airstrokes Combi Embroidery technique. It features detailed individual hairstrokes for an even more realistic, fluffier look. SleekBrow also offers services like eyebrow embroidery for men, eyeliner tattooing and lash lifts at its studio.
Asian and Caucasian eyebrow embroidery
Estee and Sydney are able to work with all types of brow types – from black to blonde, fine to coarse, scarce to bushy – because of how they customise the shape and pigment to suit each individual. “We have worked on cancer survivors customers too,” Estee and Sydney tell me.
We review the Misty Eyebrow Embroidery at SleekBrow:
I (and my over-plucked brows) stepped into SleekBrow’s two-floor studio, where Estee and Sydney’s warm, cheerful welcome instantly put me at ease. The experience felt highly personalised from the get-go. For half an hour, Sydney and I chatted about style, shape and colour preferences down to the finest detail as she measured, sketched and adjusted. We settled on a mid-brown colour and shape that closely resembled my natural brows – my brows, but better, so to speak. That way, Sydney explained, they could be filled up for special events but look natural otherwise on no-makeup days.
The actual procedure was much more of a breeze than expected! With me lying on the plush bed, Sydney applied a layer of numbing cream before working her magic, reapplying throughout. She delicately applied the pigment in precise, tiny dots – each treatment usually requires two to three layers. I felt a slight sting during the first layer but barely anything through the subsequent layers. To my relief, the tiny Misty pen also emitted no more than a gentle buzz. Some relaxing jazzy tunes and lovely chit-chat with Sydney made the two hours fly by.
I can’t be more pleased with the results. My eyebrows are full, nicely defined and give my face an instant lift. While the colour was darker right after the treatment, it’s now been two weeks and my brows have peeled and nearly healed (through minimal swelling and no redness). The pigment has faded and settled nicely into a natural brown colour, and it’s made a world of difference to my face. I’ve even found myself reaching for less eye makeup. The best part? No more filling and fluffing through sleepy mornings! I now understand SleekBrow’s consistent praise from its loyal clients and can’t wait to return to the capable hands of Sydney and Estee for my future brow concerns.
