Get some home ideas from WTP’s NAAZLI SOMJEE, like how to pick the right furniture for the key rooms in your home. Below are some key living room design and bedroom design ideas, plus ideas for your dining room. And details of the place where you can buy it all!
Living Room Design
Naazli suggests that you always take lots of care when picking the biggest piece of furniture in any room. “For the living room, this is the sofa,” she says. “It’s where you’ll likely be spending the most amount of time.”
For this reason, you don’t want to skimp on this piece! “Even if you have a small living room, place one large sofa in it to make it appear bigger,” adds Naazli. “This draws attention to it and fills the space.”
“You can create even more of a focal point by having a settee in a strong colour, with other furniture in more neutral shades so that the eye is immediately attracted to the statement piece.”
Ideas for the Dining Room
Naazli says: “Think about who is going to be the leading lady of your dining room or dining space. Is it the dining table or the chairs?”
Only one of these needs to be a key piece, she suggests. “The other can be a subtle enhancement in order to create that wow factor. You can also choose to have a juxtaposition of ideas such as a dark or black wood dining table against light wood or natural wood chairs. Some traditional dining chairs can also look spectacular with a modern glass table.”
Bedroom Design Ideas
Clearly, the key feature in the bedroom is the bed! Naazli suggests thinking about how the colour scheme around the bed will enhance the space, while at the same time ensuring a calm, restful zone that you enjoy spending time in.
“One bedroom design idea would be a lovely light bed with crisp white sheets, along with a soft rug or some signature chairs to create a focal point for the room.”
