Tell us a little about your background and where you’re from.
Hola! I’m Eva, born and raised in beautiful Barcelona. My life has always danced around creativity, whether through art, architecture, fashion or simply the joy of Mediterranean living. I’ve lived in several countries and each chapter has added a layer to my love for soulful design and meaningful spaces.
What brought you to Singapore?
I came here for personal reasons and quickly realised it was a place full of opportunities and people from all over the world. Over time, I felt the urge to create a different kind of space that was warm, welcoming and colourful – that would capture the essence of a Mediterranean lifestyle. That’s how La Tienda was born: not just a shop but a little slice of the Mediterranean tucked into the energy of Joo Chiat.
What’s the story behind La Tienda on Joo Chiat Road?
La Tienda began with a very simple idea: to create a beautiful space that wasn’t just a shop but a welcoming experience. From the scent that greets you at the door to the curated pieces that tell stories, it’s designed to feel personal and joyful. Every week, there’s something new to discover. It’s a neighbourhood gem, far from the bustle of malls, where you can slow down and enjoy shopping in Singapore like we used to – face-to-face, heart-to-heart. As we do in Spain!
How do you discover and select the unique brands featured in La Tienda? What catches your eye?
The selection is always very thoughtful, guided by my own instincts. I look for products that have a special design, crafted with quality and authenticity. I’m drawn to brands that blend craftsmanship with a modern twist – pieces that feel authentic and soulful. Many are Spanish, reflecting my roots.
I travel and wander through hidden streets with my sister and always keep my eyes open for treasures. Whether it’s a handmade sandal or a hand-printed fabric, each item is chosen with love – and this is what my customers feel the moment they step into La Tienda.
What are some of the most popular or special pieces in the store?
Our handcrafted bags and sandals fly off the shelves, as do our homeware pieces from Italy and Portugal. I’m especially proud of Luna BCN (BCN is an abbreviation of Barcelona), my own brand that mixes traditional block printing with my hand-drawn designs. Personally, I adore candles and scents – they set the mood and make a space feel alive. I choose a fragrance every morning to welcome our guests with warmth.

You mentioned that La Tienda is bringing back that relaxed, personalised shopping experience in Singapore from the past. Why is that important to you?
Nowadays, most shopping in Singapore happens quickly and digitally. I wanted to create the opposite: a space where people feel welcomed, where they can take their time, chat, discover new things and simply enjoy a special moment. I’m bringing back slow shopping!
That human connection, which has been lost in many places, is what makes La Tienda unique. I invite everyone to come and enjoy some time with us.
What do you enjoy doing in Singapore when you’re not working?
I love riding my bike, laughing with friends and swimming – I always say I’m a water person and the sea is my passion. I also love discovering new restaurants and, most of all, spending time with my family. My husband and son are my heart; together we connect, love, laugh and explore consciously and presently.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by creative people, by travel, by architecture – and above all, by the little things in everyday life. Inspiration is everywhere if we keep our eyes open, stay present and enjoy the moment.
What’s next for La Tienda?
We’re growing! New brands, fresh collaborations and exciting campaigns are on the horizon. Our goal is to become a go-to destination in Singapore for everyone who is seeking something different, while staying true to the warm and authentic spirit that defines us. Look for more collaborations in and out of the shop, to enjoy the Mediterranean style of life!
