A hotel in Patong with a deal for families!
Opened in late 2023, Courtyard by Marriott Phuket, Patong Beach Resort is a good starting point for exploring what is one of Thailand’s very popular beach destinations. This hotel in Patong offers direct access to water activities such as jet skiing and parasailing, along with sunset views. It’s also only a 12-minute walk to the central area, which has popular shops including Jungceylon, Big C supermarket and Bangla Road.
This Patong beach resort is also a great starting point for discovering other Phuket hotspots. Family-friendly Karon Beach is a 12-minute drive south, and it’s 35 minutes to Phuket Old Town where you can admire the preserved Sino-Portuguese townhouses and pick up souvenirs from the Sunday market. Also close is Andamanda, a waterpark with slides, a wave pool and a flow rider.
Courtyard by Marriott Phuket – layout and design
The hotel consists of seven buildings comprising 445 rooms and suites. It was running at 90 percent capacity during my visit, but never felt busy, due to its spacious layout. The rooms are spread across six buildings bordering the Main, Tropical and Fun pools. All the rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the pools.
The last building is set slightly away from this area, with rooms overlooking the Serene pool instead. There’s direct access to this pool from the Superior rooms here.
The are modern amenities for a comfortable stay – King bed, large flatscreen TV, mini bar, bathroom with toiletries and hair dryer, robe and slippers, high-speed Internet, a sofa, a writing desk and chair. There was still ample space in the room, and it always felt welcoming. My favourite spot was the terrace: a quiet place for a cup of tea between activities and sightseeing.
Tummy pleasers at this Patong beach resort
While Courtyard by Marriott Phuket, Patong Beach Resort is a hop and a skip to many eateries, there’s plenty of international cuisine on-site too. The Phuket Eatery offers all-day dining, including a huge breakfast buffet spread with organic eggs done your way, fresh fruit and pastries.
Prefer a quieter breakfast? Head to ES Café, which is just steps from the beach. I also came here every afternoon for a fresh cup of coffee and a freshly baked pastry.
For grill or barbecue offerings, Smokestack is popular for dishes such as smoked Australian beef cheek, grilled whole Andaman snapper and 150-day grain-fed Angus tenderloin. Chef Christopher Tuthill says he continuously fine-tunes the smoking and wood-firing of meats, using locally sourced wood chips.
Another spot for dining at the resort is Goodfellas, helmed by Rome native Marco Oppizio. His menu includes classic woodfired pizzas like Margherita and Quattro Formaggi, alongside chef’s fusion creations such as the Don’t Call Me Hawaiian, featuring pulled pork, and the Truffle Special with a truffle mushroom sauce. Especially popular with the kids here is the Apple pizza… and the gelato!
Do it your way at Courtyard by Marriott
This Patong beach resort has daily activities for all ages from morning to evening, from fitness to arts and crafts. One day, I learnt the basics of Muay Thai in a personalised one-hour session, guided by an experienced local instructor. The next day, my stiff muscles were stretched out in a personalised Hatha yoga class.
I also joined enthusiastic guests from Australia and India for a morning aqua aerobics class, led by an encouraging instructor. Later, I joined in a group jog along the beach at sunset.
I even tried a coffee workshop, where a barista showed me how to make a café latte topped with a simple latte art. There was also a sustainable cocktail class where we mixed drinks using locally sourced ingredients. Afterwards, I enjoyed my cocktail at Endless Summer, a newly opened beachfront beach club that’s another highlight of Courtyard by Marriott Phuket, Patong Beach Resort.
Travelling with kids to this Patong beach resort? There are plenty of family activities, too, from cooking pancakes to making bath bombs. In front of the Kids Club (for ages five to 12 years) is the Fun pool, with fountains and water slides that are enjoyed by young guests and adults alike.
Special offer for families staying at Courtyard by Marriott Phuket
When accompanied by paying adults, two kids under 12 years eat free from the kids’ menu. The adults get daily breakfast, too, plus a daily three-course lunch or dinner at The Phuket Eatery. For info and bookings, head to lnk.ink/Marriott-Package.
