Did you know that 2024 marks the 189th edition of the Munich Oktoberfest, the world’s biggest beer festival? Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant is also celebrating its 18th Oktoberfest in Singapore, and they sure know how to throw a festive bash! Starting from 3 September and running until 27 October, they’ll be laying on their biggest, boldest celebration yet at each of their four outlets, including the flagship Brotzeit in VivoCity, Singapore. Alongside lashings of beer and authentic German cuisine, there’ll be live performances from a world-class European DJ and a rebellious young yodeller, festive brunches, and plenty of revelry at this German restaurant. Prost!
Here’s how to celebrate Oktoberfest with good friends:
#1 Experience German merriment with a fresh spin at Brotzeit
You don’t have to travel all the way to Munich to feel part of the celebrations. From 5 to 8 September, Brotzeit VivoCity in Singapore will be transforming into a contemporary biergarten for a three-day knees-up featuring performances from DJ Juergen Kranzinger, also known as DJ JFK, and Austrian yodeller Thomas Reitsamer, aka Toni Deluxe.
Billed as ‘Oktoberfest Party Days’, the three-day event kicks off with a traditional tapping of the barrel ceremony at this German restaurant, followed by a mug-holding competition and a few rounds of ‘Hammerschlagen’. The latter sees contestants competing against each other by banging nails into a wooden trunk. There’s also a hearty brunch planned for Sunday 8 September, with an entertainer on hand to keep the kinders happy.
While Munich’s Oktoberfest traditionally ends on the first Sunday in October, Brotzeit’s festivities continue until the end of October. VivoCity will host seasoned DJs 505 and Gunnar every Thursday night from 12 September to 24 October, with other special events during the month including:
- Brotzeit Westgate: An Oktoberfest Party on Thursday 19 September with a Bavarian-style oompah band and Singapore-based DJ Maverick.
- Brotzeit Katong: An Oktoberfest Brunch on Sunday 22 September with live Alphorn performances by legendary maestro Marcel Baerenfaller. The closing brunch on Sunday 27 October is also not to be missed!
- Brotzeit VivoCity in Singapore: An Oktoberfest Weisswurst Brunch on Sunday 29 September with folk ensemble Swiss Alpine Lions and DJ Maverick. Don’t miss the closing party on Saturday 26 October when the oompah band and DJ Maverick return for a final fling at Brotzeit VivoCity in Singapore.
#2 What’s Oktoberfest without beer?
Brotzeit’s German restaurants will be serving the exclusive Erdinger Oktoberfest beer, a wheat beer specially brewed for the festival each year in Erding, Germany. Enjoy free-flow of this golden-hued brew, along with draught beers, selected house wines and soft drinks, for $88 per person for three hours or $68 per person for two hours. The offer runs until the end of the party season – or until the 9,000 litres they’ve imported are consumed!
#3 Tuck into an authentic German feast at Brotzeit
No Oktoberfest celebration would be complete without hearty German food. Chef Lorenz Raich and his crew have crafted a special Oktoberfest menu, available at all outlets. Highlights include crispy pork belly with napkin dumplings and sauerkraut, pork chops with oven-baked potatoes and white cabbage salad, smoked pork and beef sausage served with mashed potatoes, and an epic Oktoberfest Platter laden with all your favourite German goodies. The Halber Meter Oktoberfest Sandwich is a towering treat that stands half a metre high and filled with roast pork, meatloaf and crispy pork knuckle. It’s an architectural lye bread masterpiece!
#4 A corporate bash you’ll actually want to attend
Take a break from the weekday grind to unwind with workmates or entertain clients. Brotzeit’s Corporate Package, priced at $68 per person for a minimum of 20 guests, includes staples like their signature pork knuckle, crispy pork belly, pork chop, four kinds of specialty sausages and the show-stopping Halber Meter Oktoberfest Sandwich. Pile up on sides such as superfood salad and roast potatoes with sour cream, with mini apple strudel with vanilla sauce for pud’.
#5 Oktoberfest catering made easy at Brotzeit

Bringing the Oktoberfest experience to your chosen location, the buffet-style package is priced at $58 per person for a minimum of 20 guests.
