We love a good gala! Supporting charity events and attending glamourous formal balls is one of our favourite pastimes in Singapore. Just when you thought it was too late to get in on the last of 2015’s annual charity balls and philanthropic galas, here are three more to keep you all dressed up. Pinkies up, ladies – let’s get dressy!
The CRIB Ball: A Dance with Dragons, 25 November 2015, Gardens by the Bay
Here be dragons…Empowering the next generation of women entrepreneurs is what CRIB is all about. Celebrating the social enterprise that supports and inspires successful women to become the best business leaders they can be, the CRIB Ball is the annual year-end formal event held this year at Gardens by the Bay boasting the theme A Dance With Dragons, inspired by the insanely popular television series, ‘Game of Thrones’. Transforming the Flower Dome’s Flower Field Hall into a Thrones-esque Banquet Hall, empowered women (and their partners) are set to dine on a gourmet dinner presented by celebrity master chefs.
Tickets to The CRIB Ball: A Dance with Dragons are priced from S$600 to S$1000 (CRIB members from S$390 to S$490); tables of 10 are also available. Memberships for CRIB range from S$80 to S$180 for a Pro membership – dues are per-annum.

Need a fantastic frock or a deliriously delicious dress? If you’re anything like me, there’s no need to own formal dresses when you know you’ll never wear the same dress twice. Why bother buying a ball gown when you can rent? Hiring formal gowns and evening wear dresses is as easy as clacking on your keyboard. Here are my go-to formal frock rental places for gorgeous gowns that will only be worn once!
Launched earlier this year by awesome social entrepreneur and savvy businesswoman in her own right, Carol Chen. Covetella offers an infinite online dream closet for all of your events! Loaded with nicely priced designer dress rentals and a changing inventory of designer dresses, Covetella is a winner in our book, and offer discounts on the events listed above. Want to keep the dress? Covetella also sells gowns, and offers a bespoke service for those who don’t want to share.
With a convenient brick-and-mortar outlet in Far East Plaza, Love Potion has a wide range of formal frocks and ladies available that perform on-site alterations. Prices range from S$50 to $400 for dream designs, and rental periods are usually one- to two-days long.
Although I haven’t tried Rent a Dress, this site was recommended by our oh-so-stylish fashion editor. A quick scroll through the site reveals gorgeous, designer gowns for hire. The rental process for luxury designer dress rental company R.A.D. seems tremendously easy – shop and pay online for your dress, it gets delivered to your door, and four days later, the shop collects the gown!
