Enjoy the WTA Finals at the Racquet Club

20th May 2019 by Lindsay Yap 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/wta-finals-singapore-racquet-club-experience/

The BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global returns this year from 21 to 28 October at Singapore Sports Hub. Catch the world’s top eight singles players and doubles teams in women’s tennis as they battle it out for the US$7 million prize money and the highly sought-after Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova trophies for singles and doubles respectively. You may have already heard that this annual tennis tournament will be relocating to Shenzhen, China, from next year, so now is the perfect time to treat yourself to the VIP experience at the Racquet Club. Here’s what you can look forward to.

What’s it all about?

The award-winning Racquet Club was introduced in Singapore for the first time, and has been a huge part of the Women’s Tennis Association finals over the past five years. Situated in a two-storey pavilion, the club’s doors open two hours before the matches so you can head down early and take advantage of everything it has to offer.

#1 Snag amazing seats

Racquet Club guests are treated to some of the best seats in the house. Strut down a private walkway and watch the matches from premium baseline seats (CAT A) – you’ll be the envy of the crowd!

#2 Dig into a buffet spread

Enjoy a great selection of delicious eats throughout the tournament at the Racquet Club hospitality pavilion. Plenty of thought goes into coming up with the food and wine menu, and preparations start months before the event. The menu is slowly refined to perfection – so your appetite is in good hands! The spread changes each day, so you’ll never be bored. There’ll be a mix of cuisines to suit different palates, from Western mainstays such as seafood platters and roast beef to popular local favourites like popiah and Chinese roast pork. The buffet also includes healthier options, while those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the different freshly made desserts each day. There’s also free-flow wine and beer (and non-alcoholic drinks). What’s not to love?

#3 Rub shoulders with stars

Tennis fans have plenty to get excited about! At the Racquet Club, you can get up close and personal with WTA Finals legends and players who will drop in regularly – you might even get a chance for a photo op! Past events have seen big-name players such as Martina Navratilova, Kim Clijsters and Lindsay Davenport make appearances in the lounge.

#4 Access to the ACES Lounge

This exclusive lounge is a great spot to refuel and mingle between games. Located in the foyer of the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the space is filled with groups of tables and chairs that you can gather around for a comfortable chat. Help yourself to free-flow tipples and light bites from the open bar as you catch up with friends and make new contacts. What’s more, this is just behind the stadium seating so you’re just a few steps from the action!

#5 Give back to the community

This year, event organiser and promoter Lagardère Sports has introduced a new fundraising initiative, Advantage Singapore: The Final Serve. $10 from every sale of a Racquet Club ticket ($1 from every general admission ticket) will go to SportCares to help underprivileged youth through sport.

During the WTA Finals week, a silent auction will be held at the Racquet Club where you can bid for racquets autographed by WTA Founder and tennis legend Billie Jean King, and past WTA Finals Singapore winners such as Serena Williams and Dominika Cibulkova; proceeds will go to SportCares.
