Looking for a St Patrick’s Day celebration in Singapore? We’ve got a great (and green) party you won’t want to miss.
This year, CHIJMES is going all out with its St Patrick’s Day festivities that the whole family can enjoy. On Friday 15 March and Saturday 16 March (5 to 11pm) and Sunday 17 March (3 to 11pm), the former convent-turned-dining complex will celebrate the luck of the Irish with festive food and drinks, performances and more. Here’s what you can expect from the three-day festival.
Craft beer and bites
What better way to celebrate St Paddy’s Day than with hearty fare and a pint or two? Attendees can choose to purchase their food and drinks in advance via the online ticketing page to enjoy a special early-bird promotion: steak with stout gravy and two beers for just $20 (usual price is $32), with the option to replace the steak with gravy with another à la carte dish. Simply pre-purchase online to redeem your meal and beer at the food-and-beverage counter.
Food and drinks can also be purchased via cash payment at the food-and-beverage counter. Almost Famous Craft Beer Bar will be serving O’Hara’s Irish Stout ($10), 51st State IPA ($10), Zeffer Apple Cider ($10) and Dr Pepper ($5) – or buy four drinks for $30 – plus a menu of hearty dishes including Irish rarebit ($5), steak with stout gravy ($12), steak with truffle cheese ($15) and truffle nacho cheese ($8) that can be enjoyed at The Lawn.
You’ll certainly get into the St Paddy’s spirit with a line-up of festive performances (no ticket required; performances free to the public). On Friday and Saturday, attendees can catch an 8.30pm Irish dance performance by Irish Inspirational Dance and two sets (7.30pm and 9pm) from pop-rock band Smells Like Last Friday.
On St Patrick’s Day itself (Sunday), attendees can look forward to festive performances (6pm and 7pm) from Lion City Pipe Band, one of the region’s leading pipe bands, and an 8pm Irish dance performance by Irish Inspirational Dance Singapore.
This year, for the first time, CHIJMES joins hundreds of other iconic buildings and attractions around the world in going green (literally!) in honour of St Patrick’s Day. On the evenings of 15 to 17 March, the façade of the complex’s Gothic-style 19th-century chapel will light up as part of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening campaign, further adding to the festive atmosphere.
Additionally, there will be a specially curated festive light projection show (15 to 17 March from 8 to 11pm) featuring falling shamrocks, leprechaun hats and more – the kiddos are sure to love it!
