How musical theatre helps kids shine!

When children learn to sing, dance and act for musical theatre, they gain confidence, express themselves creatively, learn to work as a team and form new friendships in a supportive environment. Here’s how a semester of “Movie Musicals Magic” at Sing’theatre Academy can help children from 3 to 18 years develop skills that extend well beyond the stage.

Explore favourite songs and characters

The theme of the new semester at the Academy is “Movie Musicals Magic”. It invites students to explore the memorable songs, stories and characters of favourites such as The Greatest Showman, Matilda the Musical and Wicked. At the end of the semester, they’ll bring everything they have learnt to the stage in a lively showcase celebrating the magic of movie musicals.

Each class is designed as a standalone programme for its respective age group, so students are welcome to join at any stage of their musical theatre journey.

• Mini Stars, ages 3-4: A fun and supportive introduction to singing, dancing and acting that encourages young children to express themselves with confidence.
• Rising Stars, ages 5-6: Children explore musical theatre in an engaging environment that nurtures their confidence and love for the stage.
• Super Stars, ages 7-9: Budding performers learn to combine singing, dancing and acting while building teamwork and confidence onstage.
• West End Stars, ages 10-13: Young performers take on challenging material that broadens their performance range and strengthens their skills across singing, dancing and acting.
• Broadway Stars, ages 13-18: Teen performers build confidence and further develop their triple-threat skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

Classes are led primarily by professional theatre practitioners, who bring real-world industry experience into the classroom while encouraging each child to progress at their own level.

More than performing musical theatre pieces

The team at Sing’theatre Academy says that musical theatre gives children much more than just a chance to get on stage. It helps them communicate clearly, express themselves creatively and become comfortable working with others – skills that can support them both onstage and in everyday life.

Students have opportunities to perform not just in the end-of-semester showcases but also community performances, gaining valuable experience while becoming part of a welcoming theatre community.
