Where to buy a turkey – roasted or ready to cook!

26th October 2022 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/where-to-buy-turkey-in-singapore-ready-cooked-take-away/

Hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas at your house and wondering where to buy a turkey in Singapore? Then you might prefer to get one ready-cooked, or thawed, brined and stuffed for easy cooking. You can also personalise and pre-order your entire Christmas dinner menu online – everything from turkeys to homemade sausages, roast beef, sides, and more. Here are some of our top spots for takeaway turkeys and butchers with festive fare.

Turkeys in Singapore for Christmas and Thanksgiving

Jeffrey’s Christmas Kitchen

The classic handmade roast turkey here is prepared with Jeffrey’s own special blend of spices and seasonings and cooked to perfection. The store also only uses free-range turkeys that are air-flown daily to Singapore – never frozen. The Christmas dining bundles include a roast turkey, along with other holiday favourites such as roasted pork knuckle and a premium Iberico ham with all the fixings. Preheating services are also available for cooked turkey orders to accommodate households that don’t have a microwave or convection oven that can fit their huge turkeys.

Little Farms

This year, Little Farms is serving free-range Australian turkeys from Hunter Valley. If you’re a hands-on kind of person, the butchery has 4kg to 6kg turkeys ready for marinating and roasting. That’s enough turkey for up to 10 people! Meanwhile, those after a fuss-free holiday can also order one of their roasted turkeys, which come with sourdough apricot and sage stuffing, cranberry apple compote, and turkey gravy.

Each turkey is brined and hand-rubbed with a special blend of spices, then slow roasted till golden-brown on low temperature for about three hours. The end result is a juicy, moist and flavourful turkey encased within a lovely crispy skin that boasts a hint of smokiness.

Ready cooked turkeys

Put together the perfect holiday spread with these ready-to-cook roasts and turkeys in Singapore.

When it comes to a Christmas and Thanksgiving centrepiece, nothing is quite as iconic as the traditional roast turkey with a moreish stuffing and all the fixings. While homemade roast turkeys are a point of pride, the entire process of preparing the dish can be a daunting one – especially when you consider making time for all the other holiday season classics.

This year, the team from Meat Co. will be offering their star Turkey Joints dishes. Choose from the Classic Whole Roast Turkey, the Easy Carve Sous Vide Turkey Breast with Chestnut Stuffing, or the Smoked Turkey Breast Ham, all made in-house locally here in Singapore. Each set is oven ready and made fresh to order to ensure the juiciest mouthfeel. Prices start from $75 for a festive centrepiece.

Another great addition to your Christmas meal will be Meat Co.’s new range of hormone- and antibiotic-free Larchwood Bronze Turkeys from the UK. They’re specially selected Bronze Hens – slower-growing birds, grown sustainably with a symbiotic cycle. The Larchwood Bronze Turkeys are full of flavour, perfect for the ultimate Christmas feast!

Tips on how to cook a turkey

  1. Use a meat thermometer to ensure a perfectly cooked turkey every time.
  2. Skip the basting – opening the kitchen door repeatedly results in a loss of heat and a less even cook.
  3. Bake on a bed of vegetables to sort out your side dishes at the same time.
  4. Cook stuffed turkeys for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. Let the turkey rest for at least an hour before carving so it remains moist.
