A Visa Card & App for Deal-Loving Travellers

17th May 2019 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/travel-deals-singapore-visa-card-wallet-app-for-travellers/

It’s no secret that everybody loves a bargain in Singapore. It could be a discount on dining out, travel miles for spending on your credit card or loyalty points for shopping online. We are also a tech-savvy bunch who adopt new technologies early and love to get the latest gadgets. So it’s probably no surprise that a Visa card offering up to 5% cashback was launched first in Singapore to tap into these local trends.

Singapore is a modern, forward-thinking and infrastructurally sound country with consumers who are always on the lookout for the latest digital trends and apps. It’s the trendsetter within Asia, and often a test bed to try out new products and services.

Lifestyle benefits

These dynamics have prompted the MCO Visa Card, which can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, to first launch in Singapore. With the MCO Visa Card linked to a handy wallet app that gives you instant access to your money, you can easily convert your cash between currencies such as SGD, EUR, GBP, SGD, HKD, JPY, and AUD with just a few taps. This is especially great for travelling. Going somewhere that uses other currencies? The ‘Google exchange rate’ with no service fees enables you to spend like a local, basically anywhere you go.

Given our love of a good deal, a raft of discounts and savings have been added for cardholders. On top of up to 5% cashback for every transaction made by cardholders, there are many other lifestyle perks. These include up to 100% rebate for Spotify and Netflix subscription plans, and a 10% rebate for purchases made on Expedia and Airbnb.

How is this different from other cards?

The MCO Visa Card is different from your other cards in many ways. Except for the free Midnight Blue card, the cards are all made of metal. All come with no annual, monthly or delivery fees. Instead of these fees, they use a unique approach. Users reserve a metal card by purchasing MCO tokens and holding them in the app for six months. After that, you can unlock the tokens to sell them or keep them – no strings attached.

The MCO Visa Card is designed to fit the lifestyle of today’s modern consumers who want to be rewarded for their loyalty and not hit with lots of fees for using their cards. On top of this, it comes with free ATM monthly withdrawals of up to S$1,000.

Being based in Singapore, we are perfectly positioned to explore Southeast Asia and the rest of the world. This has turned us into a nation of travellers. With this in mind, the MCO Visa Card comes with unlimited access to airport lounges at more than 900 locations worldwide.

Saving money is clearly a benefit of using the MCO Visa Card but convenience is also another attraction. In today’s modern and fast-paced world, we are constantly on the lookout for products and services that make life easier and seamless. And with the MCO Visa Card the transaction process is exactly that. Tokens you own can be easily converted into conventional money (it supports EUR, GBP, SGD, HKD, JPY, and AUD) via the Wallet App. Then it’s yours to go and spend without any transaction fees.

Connecting with the Wallet App also allows customers to manage their card usage, such as having the ability to freeze or unfreeze their card with a single tap.

The MCO Visa Card also provides free, unlimited airport lounge access for cardholders with an option to bring a guest along with selected MCO Visa Cards.

Taking back control of your finances

The world of finance is changing at a fast pace, with fintech disrupting traditional banks and financial institutions. Till now, banks have had a tight grip on consumers’ wallets while charging fees for most services and transactions. The banking and payment sector is ripe for disruption from new players keen to give customers a better deal.

The MCO Visa Card shows that financial services should meet the needs of customers, not just today, but as they grow and change over the next 20 years and beyond. In Singapore, we are already familiar with mobile payments, digital wallets and e-wallets.  MCO Visa Cards are the next phase.
