Who has fancy tricks up their sleeves?

8th June 2019 by Lindsay Yap 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/things-to-do-in-singapore-harlem-globetrotters-basketball-team/

The Harlem Globetrotters will be performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 5 April as part of their Fan Powered World Tour this year. Don’t miss the chance to let this famous American basketball troupe entertain you with their astonishing skills and humorous antics.

Who are they?

The Harlem Globetrotters have been showcasing their basketball skills for the past 93 years, across 123 countries and territories on six continents. Formed in Chicago, the team initially started participating in the World Basketball Championships; over time, they started including comic routines into their act and became known for their entertaining displays.

Widely seen as the pioneers in popularising the slam dunk, fast break, forward and point guard positions and figure-eight weave, the Globetrotters have performed for millions of fans including royalty and presidents. They’ve also displayed their skills for various charity organisations and collaborated with STOMP, Philadelphia 76ers, Arsenal Football Club, Stephen Curry and the US Gymnastics team, among others.

Along the way, the troupe has racked up an impressive 21 Guinness World Record Titles, including five new records on Guinness World Records Day in 2018 alone. These include the most under-the-leg tumbles in one minute – an unbelievable 32!

Action on the court

Needless to say, this April’s show is set to be remarkable, featuring plenty of signature moves and loads of fun on the court that will keep you and the kids well entertained. Celebrating their fans, this edition of the world tour will bring the audience even closer to the action, with more opportunities to interact with the basketball stars during the games. Get ready to laugh out loud and be part of the action – and don’t be surprised if they pick you out from the crowd!

Up close and personal

Hoping to meet your favourite players? Get a spot at Magic Pass, the Globetrotters’ exclusive pre-show gathering. Held for 30 minutes before the performance, this special time offers fans a chance to learn tricks, shoot hoops and take photos on the court. Magic Pass holders also get to take part in a complimentary autograph session at the end of the main event!

More details

The main show lasts about 90 minutes (with a 10-minute half-time). Tickets start from $29 and family packages (two adults and two children) are also available. All ticket-holder also have the option to upgrade their tickets to a Magic Pass ($60 per person). Get your tickets now.

The rain and cold winds getting you down? A warm beverage and maybe a good book to snuggle up to might just chase the blues away!

If hot chocolate is too mainstream for you, could we offer up this red velvet alternative? @littlefarms have a wide selection of oat milks, almond milks and soy milk options.

Since it's #Veganuary, we recommend using dairy free milks to recreate this recipe....

2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
4 medjool dates (pitted)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon beet powder

Add the milk and dates into a saucepan.
Heat, over medium, until it reaches a simmer. Add the warm milk with the dates and the remaining ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy!

As we welcome the start of a new year, it’s time to look back at the year that was.

Obviously, a standard review of 2020 would be dominated by one global issue, however, we’ve decided to avoid any mention of the C-word and instead, we’re taking a look at some of the other things that happened in 2020
month by month, from pop culture phenomena to mystery objects in our deserts and skies (full link in our stories)

Enjoy – and have a wonderful 2021!
