There’s nothing better than sinking your teeth into a juicy, perfectly cooked steak – and nothing more disappointing than chewing on a cut that resembles a piece of old boot leather. You can’t trust ‘steak night’ to just anyone.
Where do you go for the best steak here in Singapore? We did the research for you… the skilled chefs at Opus Bar & Grill, located at Hilton Singapore, know what they’re doing when it comes to red meat, and their new menu of prime grade cuts puts it top of our list. There’s a lot to love about the refined, classic steakhouse with a contemporary twist, but the best part? Their top quality ingredients are the hero not the decor.
Need more reasons to visit? We’ve got seven of them:
1. They have the finest cuts of meat
T-Bone to tenderloin, rump to ribeye – choose from eight high quality cuts from Australia and new prime grade offerings from Greater Omaha, USA. Acclaimed cattle farmers from Omaha are renowned for their sweet, tender cuts with rich marbling throughout. Beef cattle from these fertile farmlands are 100 days corn-fed, and the meat’s superb marbling creates incredible flavour. Plus, they consistently reach the impeccable standards of the United States Department of Agriculture (no mean feat).
Feel like sharing (or just very, very greedy)? Opus’s signature sharing cuts, such as the Rangers Valley OP rib, dry aged for up to 36 days or the 1 to 1.2kg Angus T-bone, are to die for.
2. Free booze (That got your attention!)
If, like us, ‘free flow’ is your favourite Singaporean saying, Opus is your kind of place. From Sunday to Thursday, any prime cut from the Opus Beef Menu comes with two hours of excellent red and white wines. On Fridays and Saturdays, take 50 percent off all wines. We also love the Asian-inspired aperitifs like the “Kaya” with Ketel One Vodka, kaya jam, barley water and lemon juice for a spirited start to the night or old classics with a twist like the Salted Caramel Old Fashioned. Opus has an amazing selection of whiskies, plus an impressive United Nations gathering of beers.
3. Not in a steak mood? No problems
Just like their steaks, Opus lets great ingredients shine in their other dishes. Their Wild Sea Bass with Clams, Black Mussels, Artichokes and Vine Tomatoes is superb as is their Pork Belly with Baby Romaine, Beetroot and Ginger Pumpkin Puree.
4. These chefs know what they’re doing
Opus’s chefs use a unique, Himalayan salt tile cabinet to expertly dry-aged meats and an open flame charcoal grill to perfectly sear and seal your steak. Its white-hot coals give your dish mouth-watering caramelisation and a mellow, smoky character. And be waited upon by attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
5. Enjoy comfortable, stylish surrounds
A contemporary take on the classic steakhouse, Opus Bar & Grill achieves a warm, welcoming ambiance with refined wood panelling and elegant, metallic and leather accents. Watch the expert chefs at work in the transparent grill pod and hear the spit and sizzle of the steaks as they hit the grill.
6. Little details win big points
Your steak is beautifully presented with proper French Jean Dubost Laguiole steak knives and classic sides like comforting, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, creamy Mac & Cheese or a delicate Baby Green Salad
7. It’s great value
Melt in the mouth, charcoal-grilled steaks from just $58++! See you there?
