Retail collective A Raft of Otters, which has a home in Tanglin Mall and now a new concept store in Joo Chiat, highlights four of its clothes and sustainable jewellery collections that embody the essence of slow fashion brands, and which are also inspired by diverse cultures from around the world.
Apollonia
Slow fashion brand Apollonia’s latest collection celebrates the bold, brilliant and bright colours of Jaipur, where the pieces are crafted. Featuring a mix of screen and hand-block printed patterns, these garments are distinguished by exciting hidden details such as ruffle hems and pleated cuffs. As a result, every item in the collection is unique.
The Tangerine Road
This Italian slow fashion brand based in Singapore and Hong Kong draws inspiration from the ancient Silk Road, a network of routes connecting Europe to China. Additionally, the founders’ travels across Asia infuse the collections with vibrant influences from the region’s people and landscapes. From admiring dancers in Bali to soaring over Bagan in a hot air balloon, their experiences have enriched their creativity, bringing depth and colour to each garment.
Lustre
Lustre’s Gen-X sustainable jewellery collection is inspired by the bold and transformative spirit of Generation X. Celebrating resilience, independence and also authenticity, the collection features a prominent “X” design, symbolising endless possibilities and perpetual innovation. Each piece embodies the unique blend of rebellion and sophistication that defines Gen X. It’s a timeless tribute to that generation’s enduring influence on fashion and art.
Green Gaia
Green Gaia items are inspired by travels in South Asia and time spent with local communities. For instance, the brand visits India annually to hand-select the highest quality crystal pieces and designs. It celebrates the artisans who craft these beautiful items. Created by a small team of marginalised artisans from West Bengal, the pieces provide sustainable livelihoods and are certified by the World Fair Trade Organization. Each item also comes in a box handcrafted in Bali, complete with a special gift for you.
