Singapore preschools offering Japanese classes and Mandarin classes
Want your child to learn more than one language? Consider building strong linguistic foundations from a young age. Many Singapore preschools offer English and Chinese programmes through fun, interactive Mandarin classes. There’s also the option of Japanese language classes at one of the preschools – read on to discover the range of offerings!
Kinderland Academy & Preschool – English and Chinese bilingual programme, Japanese language classes
Children at all Kinderland Academy & Preschools are immersed in a bilingual English and Mandarin programme designed to build strong foundations in both languages from an early age. The Chinese curriculum is closely aligned with the English curriculum, with similar themes taught in both languages. This provides a cohesive and meaningful learning experience.
Daily language lessons are conducted by qualified English and Chinese early childhood educators. Language learning is brought to life through songs and rhymes, children’s literature and theme-based activities. At the K1 and K2 levels, children also take part in interest-driven mini projects, where they apply the Chinese language in authentic problem-solving contexts. Beyond the classroom, there are field trips such as visits to libraries and places of interest. These experiences reinforce vocabulary and learning concepts while helping to deepen understanding and foster a love for languages.
For Japanese families, Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade offers a dedicated Japanese-English programme. A certified native Japanese educator teaches daily Japanese language lessons alongside English instruction by qualified early childhood educators. Children also develop a strong sense of Japanese cultural identity through traditional customs and seasonal events such as Setsubun and Hinamatsuri. This bilingual programme will expand to Kinderland Preschool @ Pandan Valley in the second quarter of 2026.
Kinderland’s e-Ambassador Programme enables children to engage virtually with peers from Kinderland preschools in other countries. These sessions encourage cultural understanding, respectful communication and global-minded thinking.

Shaws Preschool – learning a language in fun Mandarin classes
At Shaws Preschool, learning a new language is designed to feel like play – it’s fun, active and meaningful. As they play, children build vocabulary, confidence and a love for language that grows with them as they grow.
Children learn Mandarin through songs, stories, games, movement, cooking, art and lots of talking. They sing action songs, act out stories, play games and use new words during everyday moments like playtime, snack time and outdoor adventures.
Children don’t need to speak Mandarin at home to enjoy or succeed in learning at Shaws. Rather, the programme welcomes children from all language backgrounds. Whether or not Mandarin is spoken at home, each child starts from where they are. They’re supported at their own pace in an environment that builds confidence and curiosity.
With many opportunities to listen, respond and express themselves, language learning feels achievable, purposeful and enjoyable. Before they even realise it, children are listening, speaking and using new words in real ways.
Children also discover and appreciate the language culture. They celebrate festivals, explore traditions, try calligraphy, cook traditional Chinese foods like dumplings and create cultural crafts. In the process, they’re learning to be curious, respectful and open to the world around them. Above all, children feel empowered — confident to try, proud of their progress in Mandarin classes and excited to discover more.
