Just as we thought Christmas couldn’t get more colourful and enthusiastic here in Singapore, the dazzling ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade arrived. Oh yes, it’s exactly what you’re thinking, festive friends – a huge water parade of boats decked to the hilt in bright Christmas lights and sparkly decorations. Fun!
ONE15 Marina Club will be hosting this event for the first time on local Singapore waters, and 25 to 30 power and sail boats of different sizes are expected to join the unique flotilla on the evenings of Saturday December 6 and Saturday December 13. Get all the details below…
Who can take part?
The theme for ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade this year will be A Tropical Christmas on Water, with all boaters and non-boaters invited to get involved and dress their vessels up to the nines in fairylights galore. We’re talking boat dealers, charter boat operators and private owners from marinas in Singers and beyond.
This also includes anyone who fancies renting a boat from ONE15 Luxury Yachting for the occasion – they have over 28 chartered yachts that can accommodate between eight and 50 passengers, plus they can organise catering and drinks for a real party atmosphere.
Is there a prize?
Here’s the fun bit – it’s not just a Christmas extravaganza, there are serious prizes to be won for the sassiest boats! There are cash prizes totalling a whopping $15,000 to be won across five categories: powerboat 51 feet and over, powerboat 50 feet and under, sailboat 51 feet and over, sailboat 50 feet and under, plus Best of Show.
What’s the route?
The ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade will follow the same route on both December 6 and December 13. It will depart from ONE15 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove at around 7.45pm and head to Sentosa Boardwalk via Siloso Beach, Resorts World Sentosa, HarbourFront and VivoCity.
Once the jazzy parade reaches Sentosa Boardwalk, the competition begins! Between 8.15pm and 9.15pm, the judges will decide upon the most original and creative use of decorations according to the tropical theme. Each category winner will take home a cash prize, so don’t hold back when it comes to those string lights!
Is there an after party?
But of course! There will be an Awards Ceremony and Closing Party at ONE15 Marina Club’s Boaters’ Bar at 9.45pm on Saturday 13 December. This bash will recognise all the participants’ festive efforts, plus it’s where the impressive prizes will be presented.
I’m in! How do I sign up?
For just $100++ per boat, here’s what you’ll get: Entry to both water parades, two tickets to the Awards Ceremony and Closing Party, and a starter kit of lights to kick off your decorations. Additional tickets to the Awards Ceremony and Closing Party can be picked up for $25 each ($35 on the door).
